  • Publication number: 20230313474
Abstract: A module of road safety barrier for contacting and redirecting an errant vehicle includes a first beam, a second beam, and uprights that support them. The first beam has a first longitudinal part projecting laterally with respect to the uprights and also has a second longitudinal part projecting laterally with respect to the uprights, on the opposite side of the uprights with respect to the first longitudinal part. The first longitudinal part and the second longitudinal part are each joined to both of the uprights by means of permanent joints and are joined to one another by welds or brazing so as to form an internally hollow beam with longitudinal slots. In manufacturing, the whole module is galvanized.

  • Publication number: 20230203767
Abstract: A central road safety barrier includes modules mutually couplable by means of a bolt which engages holes made in protrusions extending in a longitudinal direction at the ends of the modules. Walls adjacent to the protrusions improve the transfer between the modules of an impact of an errant vehicle on the barrier and improve response to an impact. The safety barrier provides an emergency openable passage. A module may include a wall solidly constrained to an upright and adjacent to the protrusions of the module on a first side of the barrier. An openable passage module has a further wall solidly constrained to a further upright and adjacent to the protrusions of the openable passage module on a second side of the barrier.

  • Publication number: 20220145558
Abstract: Road safety barrier assembly has a barrier and an electric circuit that can be supplied with direct current. The circuit includes an outward electric cable and a return electric cable, and sensors along the barrier for detecting impact of a vehicle against respective portions of the barrier, each sensor causing upon impact detection a switching of electric current from the outward electric cable towards the return electric cable at the respective portion of the barrier. A device is arranged so as to measure a voltage value between the outward electric cable and the return electric cable upstream of the sensors. A control unit is predisposed to receive a signal indicating the voltage value measured by the voltage measuring device and is configured to calculate the distance between the voltage measuring device and the location of impact against the road safety barrier, by applying Ohm's Law.

  • Patent number: 10378166
Abstract: A deformation guiding system for a road safety device and a road safety device group, wherein the device has a frame and a deformable longitudinal body with a first end fixed to the frame and a second end. A head is fixable to the second end of the body. A guide rail is reciprocally arranged with respect to the deformable body for identifying a deforming direction thereof which is parallel to the guide rail. Coupling means fixed to the head couple the head to the guide rail for sliding motion along the guide rail. Stabilizing means fixed to the head prevent oscillations of the head about the guide rail. The coupling and stabilizing means are reciprocally arranged and conformed so that, in an impact of a vehicle against the head, the head can slide along the guide rail without oscillating about the guide rail so as to guide the deformation of the deformable body in the deforming direction.
