  • Patent number: 6662702
Abstract: The invention relates to a pyrotechnically releasable mechanical linking device between a first and second mechanical element, said first and second elements likely to be subjected to tensile and/or compressive force along an axis, said device comprising at least one pyrotechnic component and at least one locking means linking the two mechanical elements along at least one axis, said locking means able to be released when the mechanical elements are subjected to tensile and/or compressive forces along said axis and that is held in its locking position by retention means that are released by the pressure of gases generated by igniting the pyrotechnic component, device wherein the retention means comprise a cap integral with a head carrying the pyrotechnic component or else forming a head in itself carrying the pyrotechnic component.

  • Patent number: 6474240
Abstract: A system for attaching a priming system onto the body of a grenade, including a support integrally fastened to the grenade body and incorporating a thin cylindrical wall whose upper edge is crimped onto the priming system.

  • Patent number: 5670736
Abstract: A priming system for the explosive charge of a sub-munition carried on board a carrier comprises a main firing pin, a primer tube operative to move from a safety position to an armed position, at least two devices to lock the primer tube in the safety position before the sub-munition is ejected, and a self-destruct mechanism operative to destroy the sub-munition after a predetermined delay. A first one of the locking devices is formed of a cam operative to move from a cam safety position, in which it forms a limit stop preventing the primer tube from passing freely into an armed position, to a retracted position in which it allows free passage of the primer tube. The cam carries an auxiliary firing pin to ignite a delay cord of the self-destruct mechanism. A second one of the locking devices engage the primer tube by the percussion tip of the firing pin to hold the primer tube in a safety position.

  • Patent number: 5440992
Abstract: A priming and self-destruct system for a munition having its own rotational movement about a longitudinal axis includes a trigger mounted to pivot about an axis parallel to the rotational axis of the munition under the effect of centrifugal force and against the action of a return spring. The self-destruct system also has a retention device for a secondary firing pin having its own spring in the armed position that is controlled by the trigger when the system is rotating about the axis of the munition. In the event of a malfunction, the secondary firing pin is released by the trigger when the rotation ceases, i.e., when the munition comes to rest on the ground. At that point and without delay, the secondary firing pin pierces the priming system and initiates the munition.
