  • Publication number: 20030063771
Abstract: A method for executing searches for resources that span more than one private resource repository in a restricted-access resource sharing system is disclosed. The system includes at least one server node and multiple peer nodes connected to a network. Resources, such as data digital images, may be retrieved from the nodes based by issuing queries containing terms matching the metadata associated with the resources. The method includes maintaining storage of resources and associated metadata on respective peer nodes, wherein the associated metadata is based on at least one metadata vocabulary. Each of the peer nodes is allowed to indicate to the server that the metadata vocabularies associated with the resources are designated as private, thereby becoming a restricted access peer node.

  • Patent number: 6507363
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for automatically generating a plurality of folders for multiple devices in a digital camera. The method and system comprises providing a folder of images from a digital camera and embedding an image file format in the folder, wherein the image file format identifies the particular camera. In a preferred embodiment, the image file format comprises a TIFF structure. Through this mechanism, a one level folder system can be utilized to retrieve images. In addition, since the image file format identifies the camera, conflicts due to identical serial numbers are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6493028
Abstract: A system and method for adding file formats to a digital imaging device is disclosed. The digital imaging device includes a built-in file format. The method and system include allowing a user to loading a first file extension module, providing a management layer, and providing a plurality of data processing utilities. The first file extension module includes a second file format. The management layer communicates with the first file extension module to write and read an image file having the second file format. The management layer also communicates with a portion of the digital imaging device using an internal format. The plurality of data processing utilities are for converting data to between the second file format and the internal format.

  • Patent number: 6163816
Abstract: The present invention includes a system and method for obtaining a set of capability parameters for an electronic imaging device. The invention includes a series of capability parameter storage locations for containing capability parameter value sets, a GetCameraCapabilities command for retrieving these capability parameter value sets, and a parameter manager device for executing the GetCameraCapabilities command to retrieve the capability parameter value sets.

  • Patent number: 6052692
Abstract: A system and method for managing an image related event is disclosed. In one aspect, the method and system remove an image file on a digital imaging device. The image file is capable of including incompletely processed data. A reference to the image file is stored in a database. The method and system include ensuring that removal of the image file will not affect processing of a second image file and removing the reference to the image file from the database. In another aspect, the method and system mount a volume on a digital imaging device. The volume contains an image file capable of including incompletely processed data. The method and system include detecting the insertion of the volume, mounting the volume, providing a database including a reference to the image file, and completing image processing of the image file if the image file contains incompletely processed data.

  • Patent number: 5761453
Abstract: A method and system provides for increasing the throughput of serial data in a computer system when a data packet is of unknown length. The method and system includes initializing a first count register to count a length field of the data packet, the length field including a value indication of the length of the data packet. The method and system further includes storing a count for a minimum data portion in a second count register and receiving the data packet from a serial device of the computer system. The method and system further provides for transferring the length value to the RAM of the computer system and loading the count for the minimum data portion into the first count register to provide primary chaining of the first count register to the second count register. The method and system finally provides for comparing a minimum data packet length to the length value in the RAM to determine whether to utilize secondary chaining of the first count register with the second count register.
