Patent number: 11988586Abstract: A method of monitoring an immunoassay comprises determining the shape of the flow edge of fluid across an immunoassay region. This allows, for example, early detection of possible errors in the test. The above methods may also be used to provide methods to improve the run conditions of a test during its development. The method may be applied to a competitive assay.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2021Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: ABBOTT TOXICOLOGY LIMITEDInventors: Timothy John Abbott, David Patrick Edward Brookes

Patent number: 11935570Abstract: Techniques for determining a data tape read quality value are disclosed. A data tape system generates a value representing a quality of a data tape based on attributes of the data tape. The system calculates the data quality value using an algorithm based on: (a) a particular data tape error correction value, (b) data tape length value representing a length of data tape traversed during data-processing operations, and (c) a scaling factor. The scaling factor is based on a relationship between the particular data tape error correction value and a rate of degradation of the data tape. The scaling factor may be generated by applying a trained machine learning model to attributes of a data tape. The model generates a scaling factor for a particular data tape based on the attributes of the particular data tape.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Robert Olin Wyman, Frank Patrick Abbott, Jr.

Publication number: 20230418347Abstract: A power controller allocates input power to a datacenter between computing power for computing services, backup power, and overhead power for overhead systems. The power controller reallocates the overhead power and/or the backup power to the computing power. This may increase the overall utilization of the datacenter by allowing additional processing power of the servers to be used.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2022Publication date: December 28, 2023Inventors: Ehsan NASR AZADANI, Alok Gautam KUMBHARE, Mark Alan MONROE, Osvaldo P. Publication number: 20230211195Abstract: The description relates to battery safety and more specifically to containing battery fires. One example can include displacement sub-systems configured to physically separate an affected battery pack from other battery packs. Another example can include a 3D deployable fire curtain configured to automatically deploy around a battery pack to limit the spread of fire between battery packs. A further example can include a media reservoir positioned over a battery pack that is configured to hold non-combustible smothering media. A media retainer can be interposed between the battery pack and the media reservoir and configured to automatically release the non-combustible smothering media into the battery pack support structure when the battery pack experiences a fire.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2021Publication date: July 6, 2023Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jose Seah DELAPAZ, Richard Donald HAGE, Sarah Hisham ELDIN, Nathan Andrew ELLIS, Paul Andrew CHURNOCK, Sean Patrick ABBOTT

Publication number: 20230005511Abstract: Techniques for generating action recommendations for a data tape system are disclosed. A data tape system generates action recommendations for a data tape based on library-based metadata messages as well as a measured data quality value of the data tape. The system initiates an operation resulting in the data tape interacting with a media drive. A data tape library controller generates one or more metadata messages based on a result of a requested operation. The metadata message may include information regarding the type of error and a default recommended course of action. The system generates the recommended action for the data tape using a trained machine learning model.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2022Publication date: January 5, 2023Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Jitesh Bakul Jhatakia, Robert Olin Wyman, Frank Patrick Abbott, Jr., Carl William Luehr, Cathleen Susan Wharton, John Mitchell Black, III, Anthony Joseph Braun, Scott Adrian Ellett, George Edward Noble

Patent number: 11221154Abstract: A system for passively exhausting air from a structure includes at least one pair of modules arranged on a roof of the structure. Each module has an exhaust face on one side and a sloped surface on the opposite side, and can receive exhaust air that flows upward from inside the structure. The modules can be arranged in pairs facing one another, with one of the sloped surfaces facing a direction of an environmental flow of air, so that the environmental air can flow up the sloped surface of one module and down the sloped surface of the other module without impinging on the exhaust faces of either module. The pairs can also be arranged side-by-side in an array, which can be expanded with additional pairs of modules to exhaust from the structure at a greater rate.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2018Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Robert David Wilding, Peter George Ross, Geri-Ann Quinlivan, Alan Donald Gillooly, Sean Patrick Abbott
