  • Publication number: 20140055991
Abstract: A metal core printed circuit board that is mechanically deformed so as to improve the mechanical properties (e.g., improved section modulus or stiffness) of the board. The board is configured to be self-retaining such that it retains the deformation(s) without the help of other support structure. More specifically, the metal layer in the board is plastically (and permanently) deformed so as to retain the deformation(s) in the board.

  • Publication number: 20130168378
Abstract: A heat storage cooker comprising a least one oven cavity formed by walls of cast iron, and at least one electric radiant heating element which is in thermal contact with at least one wall such that in use the electric radiant heating element transfers heat energy to the wall which subsequently radiates at least part of that heat energy in to the oven cavity. Two or more ovens may be provided, each one with its own radiant heating element.

  • Publication number: 20130098069
Abstract: A self-cooling beverage container comprising a space between outer and inner walls, the space containing a liquid that is mixed with a chemical contained within a compartment within the base of the beverage container. The compartment within the base of the beverage container has a rupture portion located within the space between the outer and inner walls, and pressure on the base of the beverage container causes the rupture portion to open, allowing mixing of the chemical and the liquid. The chemical and the liquid react in an endothermic reaction, cooling the contents of the beverage container.

  • Publication number: 20120256548
Abstract: Board level conditions associated with the operation of multiple LEDs are sensed and used to control a driver that powers the LEDs. The driver is controlled via a 0-10V control interface. The board-level conditions include, but are not limited to, temperature, ambient light, light intensity, operating time, time of day, current, and voltage. An on-board intelligent (OBI) controller processes the 0-10V control signal before it is provided to the driver to better control the LEDs. In some systems the OBI controller works in conjunction with a separate 0-10V controller that controls one or more luminaires.

  • Publication number: 20120206912
Abstract: Light engines for inclusion in luminaires. Some embodiments of the light engine include a heat sink, a reflector, and light emitting diodes. Some embodiments of the heat sink include perforations. The reflector includes a reflective surface that extends around at least a portion of the light emitting diodes. In some embodiments, a portion of the reflector is sandwiched between the light emitting diodes and the heat sink. In some embodiments, an end of the reflector terminates above the light emitting diodes to reduce the concentration of light directly above the light emitting diodes but rather distribute the light outwardly from the luminaire.

  • Publication number: 20110290489
Abstract: A method of controlling ingress of water into a production well used to extract fluid hydrocarbons the method comprising the steps of: introducing a composition comprising a polymer, a polar solvent, a cross-linking agent and a base oil into the production well; recovering hydrocarbons from the production well; wherein the polymer comprises an alcohol moiety. The density of the composition is preferably between 0.92 to 1.00 g/cm3 thus naturally being directed to the interface between lower density oil and higher density water. Moreover the viscosity of the composition is preferably between 200 to 500 sec?1 centipoise at a shear rate of 113 sec?1 and at a temperature of 20° C. and so can flow preferentially into water bearing regions of the reservoir thus further aiding water shut-off. Embodiments of the present invention are particularly suitable for use in recovering unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs such as tar sands.
