Patent number: 10269107Abstract: A field image is formed using a tristimulus color model and used to detect target plants or entities on a field. Through the use of a luminance parameter floor, hue and saturation selection steps, feature recognition, a sizing floor and an aspect ratio ceiling, a very fast way is devised to recognize a target plant without need for consulting plant attribute databases, or to analyze spectral or other specialized data for comparison with known attributes. This allows a low calculational processing load and use of simple hardware such as a single board computer to handle machine vision in real time. Treatment steps can include a spray event, a light treatment, and a thermal/mechanical trauma.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: Global Neighbor IncInventors: Jonathan A Jackson, Norman Novotney, Christopher Carter, Austin Erdman, Patrick A Jackson

Patent number: 9840376Abstract: The present disclosure relates to apparatus for carrying articles such as fruit for sorting, and in particular though not exclusively to apparatus for singulating the articles. There is provided a singulation apparatus for an article carrying system, the apparatus comprising a flume adapted to receive a plurality of articles at a first end; a fluid inlet associated with the first end and arranged in use to direct a fluid flow to carry the received articles along the flume to a second end; wherein a parameter of the fluid flow is controlled in order to singulate the received articles along the flume. A method for singulation is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2014Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: Compac Technologies LimitedInventors: Sheldon Phillip White, Jonathan Patrick Jackson, Max Hilton Hendrikse, Eric Adrianus Plessius

Patent number: 9567100Abstract: An electric taxi predictive performance system may provide a predicted performance for an electric based taxi system (eTaxi) based on environmental information related to a vehicle. In some embodiments, the vehicle may be an aircraft using eTaxi systems to move around an airport runway system. The electric predictive taxi performance system may provide real-time displayed data to help pilots evaluate eTaxi capabilities of the aircraft as conditions change.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2014Date of Patent: February 14, 2017Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Patrick Jackson, Joseph Nutaro

Patent number: 9533837Abstract: The present subject matter relates to article carriers for use in grading apparatus and in particular, but not exclusively, for use in grading fruit. The present subject matter provides an article carrying apparatus comprising a plurality of carrier lanes each for receiving and conveying a number of articles; one or more diverters arranged to control the distribution of received articles into the lanes; a sensor arranged to determine a capacity use parameter for each lane; and a controller arranged to control the position of each diverter dependent on a difference between combined determined capacity use parameters and combined target capacity use parameters for lanes to one side of said diverter.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2014Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: Compac Technologies LimitedInventors: Andrew Stitt, Lee Adrian Cook, Jonathon Patrick Jackson

Patent number: 9530334Abstract: A physically-discrete sign component comprises an internally-electrically-illuminated alphabetic character having a front-facing profile and at least one connecting bar disposed at least substantially horizontally with respect to the front-facing profile of the alphabetic character and at least partially within the front-facing profile of that alphabetic character. By one approach the physically-discrete sign component includes two of the connecting bars. If desired, these two connecting bars are disposed at least substantially parallel to one another. By one approach, a first one of the connecting bars extends partially, but not wholly, above an upper periphery of the aforementioned front-facing profile while the second connecting bar extends partially, but not wholly, below a lower periphery of the front-facing profile. The connecting bars can include a connecting-bar interface configured to physically and electrically interconnect to an adjacent sign component.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2015Date of Patent: December 27, 2016Assignee: iLight Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Sean Edward Callahan, James Cuppini, Mark Joseph Cleaver, Timothy Edward Canzano, Edward Wayted Chen, Elizabeth Marie Randgaard, Chad Glenn Kirschner, Stephen Michael Oshgan, Paresh Shroff, Joseph Z.
