The ferromagnetic member is rigidly connected to the housing and has, in the vertical direction, a size greater than one sixth of the height of the housing, and located at a distance smaller than one fourth of a gap in the longitudinal direction between the two coils, relative to a median plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and located at the midpoint between the two coils.

The wall delimits in the casing two volumes as well as a lamellar space enabling to provide for the rolling and cooling of the arc. The space communicates with a chamber which enables the gas expulsion with expansion to the chamber. The invention enables to obtain a simple and inexpensive way of reliably breaking the arc.
