  • Publication number: 20130116542
Abstract: In an imaging procedure, sound pressure is generated by applying ultrasound to the region to be imaged in order to cause a deformation of tissue therein from at least one acquired ultrasound image data set, first data are determined that represent, with spatial resolution, the deformation of the tissue as a reaction to the sound pressure. At least one magnetic resonance image data set is acquired, from which second data are determined that represent, with spatial resolution, the deformation of the tissue as a reaction to the sound pressure. The at least one ultrasound image data set and the at least one magnetic resonance image data set are brought into registration with each other by a comparison of the first data and the second data.

  • Patent number: 8410778
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance (MR) method and apparatus for the acquisition of a first image data set and a second image data set of an examination subject, a series of excitation pulses is radiated into the examination subject, and after each excitation pulse, a first echo signal is detected after a first echo time TE1 and a second echo signal is detected after a second echo time TE2, with TE2 greater than TE1, and the first echo signal is entered in a first raw MR data set and the second echo signal is entered in a second raw MR data set. A first image data set is acquired from the first MR data set on the basis of magnitude information contained in the first MR data set. A second image data set is acquired from the second MR data set on the basis of phase information contained in the second MR data set. The first and second image data sets are stored on at least one memory device.

  • Patent number: 8384385
Abstract: In a method and apparatus to detect incorrect MR data in k-space representing MR signals acquired from an examination subject with at least two acquisition coils, MR data are acquired to generate at least one raw data set with each of the at least two acquisition coils and a check is made, for at least one k-space point, as to whether the MR data acquired for this k-space point should be replaced or not. In the event that the check yields that the MR data acquired for the at least one k-space point should be replaced, the MR data are replaced with reconstructed MR data that are based on at least two of the acquired raw data sets.

  • Publication number: 20120224757
Abstract: Complex magnetic resonance (MR) image data, acquired from an examination subject that has at least two different spin species, are processed in a method and a device. At least one MR parameter that influences data acquired in an MR data acquisition is determined with spatial resolution. Complex image data are respectively acquired with each of multiple acquisition units in an MR data acquisition at multiple echo times, such that a phase difference between the first spin species and the second spin species is different at least two of the echo times. For multiple image points, a value of the at least one MR parameter is determined so that a function that depends on the at least one MR parameter and the corresponding image point in the complex image data satisfies an extreme condition.

  • Publication number: 20120223707
Abstract: A method and a device for establishing excitation parameters, in particular for establishing an excitation profile, for MR imaging, are proposed. Elements of a k-space covariance matrix are determined for signal noise in k-space data which is captured using a plurality of receive channels in the context of data captured at an examination object. Elements of at least one image space covariance matrix are mathematically determined for a plurality of voxels of the examination object as a function of the k-space covariance matrix. • Publication number: 20120134565
Abstract: In a method to determine an MR system-dependent phase information of a phase value in an MR phase image data set, initial variances are associated with image points of a first phase image data set, and for an additional phase image data set, a phase value and a variance of the phase value for the image points of the additional phase image data set are estimated by a linear transformation of the first phase image data set. The additional image data set is calculated by weighted addition of the phase values of the first phase image data set with the estimated phase values, with the weighting of the two phase values taking place in the addition dependent on the variance belonging to the respective phase value.

  • Publication number: 20120133361
Abstract: In a computerized method and magnetic resonance (MR) system for the supplementation of acquired MR data, at least one supplemented MR data set is determined from multiple acquired, reduced MR data sets that can be acquired with an accelerated acquisition method (such as partially parallel acquisition method, ppa) in which k-space is undersampled. The acquisition can thereby take place in parallel with multiple acquisition coils. In the method and system, a reconstruction kernel is applied to the multiple acquired, reduced MR data sets in order to determine a reconstructed MR data set for an acquisition coil. The reduced MR data set acquired with the acquisition coil is reused in this reconstructed MR data set. The reuse takes place by a combination with weighting with the respective variances.

  • Publication number: 20120133362
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance (MR) system and method to separate an MR system-dependent phase influence from a subject-dependent phase influence in phase values of an MR phase image data set of an examination subject acquired, to which two different tissue types with different resonance frequencies make a signal contribution, the system-dependent phase influence is determined by selecting a contour around a region shown in the MR phase image data set, calculating the system-dependent phase influence in this region with the assumption that the spatial curve of the background phase corresponds to a harmonic or quasi-harmonic function, and subtracting the system-dependent phase influence from the acquired phase image data set to determine the subject-dependent phase influence.

  • Publication number: 20120116208
Abstract: In a method or system for magnetic resonance imaging based temperature monitoring for real-time feedback to a physician for a cryoablation therapy of a lesion which creates an ice ball of the lesion to induce cell death, the magnetic resonance imaging system, using proton resonance frequency imaging, obtains a real-time temperature image of the ice ball of the lesion undergoing the cryoablation therapy and the adjacent surrounding tissue. By use of an algorithm, correcting temperature errors at a border of the ice ball are corrected in the real-time image, the temperature error correction correcting susceptibility contrast errors caused by a distortion of the local magnetic field at the border of the ice ball.

  • Publication number: 20120068703
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance (MR) method and apparatus for spatially resolved determination of at least one MR parameter that influences an MR signal detected in an MR measurement of a region of an examination subject, first complex image data and second complex image data, respectively acquired with different acquisition coils and at different echo times in an echo imaging sequence, are provided to a processor. The different image data sets have complex image points that correspond with each other with regard to the imaged volume element of the examination subject. The MR parameter is determined in the processor for at least a portion of these image points by determination of an image point vector respectively for the first and second echo times and by combining the image point vectors to at least partially compensate echo time-independent phase or magnitude portions in the acquired image data.

  • Publication number: 20120049846
Abstract: In a method and system for phase-sensitive magnetic resonance imaging, a respective, complex image data set provided to a processor for each of at least two different echo times, the complex image data sets for the different echo times having been reconstructed from magnetic resonance data that acquired for the different echo times using an echo imaging sequence, at least one complex division image data set is determined in the processor by complex division of the complex image data sets for the two different echo times. The two different echo times define an echo time difference, so the resulting complex division image data set has phase components that are dependent on the echo time difference.

  • Publication number: 20120041306
Abstract: In a method and system for administering a dispersible medical agent to a subject, a volume of medical agent is delivered in vivo to a subject in a substantially non-dispersed state, at a localized site in tissue of the subject. Contemporaneously with administration of the medical agent to the localized site, energy from an energy source is introduced into only adjacent tissue surrounding the localized site. The energy produces a cellular modification of the adjacent tissue that makes the adjacent tissue substantially impermeable to passage of the medical agent therethrough, so the medical agent is encapsulated and is prevented from dispersing into tissue outside of the encapsulation.
