Abstract: The disclosed techniques provide a multicast extranet service via L2 wide-area network, by provisioning the network to define a virtual local area network (VLAN) for wide-area network distribution of each data feed from a source to edge points (intelligent points of demarcation), without replication for individual users within the wide-area network. A specific VLAN is assigned to carry each multicast content feed and is allocated bandwidth, to make content available at multiple designated edge points. A user network interface, such as implemented at the intelligent edge points, is configured to allow authorized user(s) access to requested data feeds from respective VLANs. Dynamic signaling may be utilized by users of the network to select data from the broadcasts on the VLANs. The signaling to/from each user device may be L2 or L3 to the points of demarcation.
