Publication number: 20160272379Abstract: A one-piece dispensing closure (10) for a pouch-like container (13) includes an integrally formed closure body (11), dispensing neck (30), hinged cap (20), a tamper-evident closure system (40) and a latch (62) for maintaining the cap (20) in an open position. The closure body (11) includes a “canoe”-shaped skirt portion (14) with opposing skirt walls (17,19) which are heat sealed to a film-like pouch (13) and a neck portion (30) having a dispensing orifice (34). The closure body (11) may further include reinforcing ribs (21) extending transversely between the skirt walls (17, 19) to provide support while the pouch is heat sealed to the skirt. A cap (20) is connected to the closure body (11) by a living hinge (26) to allow the user to selectively open and close the container. A tamper-evident tear strip (40) may be integrally formed with the neck portion (30).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2014Publication date: September 22, 2016Applicant: WESTROCK SLATERSVILLE, LLCInventors: Clifford Skillin, Patrick J Brannon

Patent number: 9371165Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure for dispensing a product from a container has a cap base and a cap that can be secured to a container. The cap base has a locking tab that engages a locking lug on a container, to prevent removal of the cap base from the container. To seal a pour spout on the cap base, a cap is removably secured to the cap base. A child resistant mechanism prevents accidental removal of the cap from the cap base. The child resistant mechanism may include a child resistant stop tab on the cap that selectively engages a child resistant stop lug located on either the container or the cap base. Alternatively, the child resistant mechanism may include a latch hook on the cap base that selectively engages a stepped locking shoulder on the cap skirt.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2014Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: WESTROCK SLATERSVILLE, LLCInventors: Patrick J. Patent number: 8336745Abstract: A dispensing closure has a key-hole shaped flow conduit that provides a sufficient flow restriction to prevent unwanted spurting of the product. The dispensing closure includes a closure body with an upper and lower deck, inner and outer skirt, and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck. The flow conduit includes including two or more vertically oriented walls and a bottom wall. The vertically oriented walls define a fluid trapping area and a partition wall depending downwardly from said upper deck. The bottom wall configured and arranged to be positioned along a horizontal axis. The flow conduit includes one entrance orifice having one entrance axis and an exit orifice having an exit axis. The entrance axis is stepped or offset from the exit axis whereby the flow conduit provides a non-linear flow path of product from an interior of the closure to an exterior of the closure.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2011Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: MWV Slatersville, LLCInventors: Patrick J.
