In use, these blanketing parts overlap so as to adjust for width and, most importantly, the child sleeps on top of both blanketing parts so that its own weight holds the mounds at the selected distance. Additionally, hook and loop means insure that the position is maintained when the child is not in bed or during ingresses and egresses or when changing bedsheets and such.
