  • Publication number: 20200308083
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the alkylation of an aliphatic organic compound comprising: (a) providing a catalyst comprising one or more zeolitic materials having a BEA framework structure, wherein the BEA framework structure comprises YO2 and optionally comprises X2O3, wherein Y is a tetravalent element, and X is a trivalent element, (b) contacting the catalyst with one or more aliphatic organic compounds in the presence of one or more alkylating agents in one or more reactors for obtaining one or more alkylated organic compounds, wherein the one or more zeolitic materials are obtainable from a synthetic process which does not employ an organotemplate as structure directing agent.

  • Patent number: 9278906
Abstract: A process for hydrogenating aromatic di- and polyamines is provided comprising the steps of reacting the aromatic amine with hydrogen in the presence of a catalytic system, wherein the catalytic system comprises a heterogeneous catalyst comprising a metal selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd and/or Pt and a support, and wherein the catalyst system further comprises an organic nitro compound. Hydrogenation of aromatic di- and polyamines having two or more amino groups bound to the aromatic ring produces cycloaliphatic di- and polyamines, which are useful chemical intermediates, e.g., for further reaction with epoxides or isocyanates. The amino groups may also be converted to isocyanates via reaction with phosgene. The resulting cycloaliphatic di- and polyisocyanates may also be used as monomers for making polymers.

  • Patent number: 5306909
Abstract: A method of quantitative analysis of drilling fluids comprising subjecting an untreated wet sample of the fluid to a reflectance infrared spectroscopy technique, typically attenuated total reflectance spectroscopy, and comparing the spectrum obtained with spectra obtained from calibration samples of fluids of known composition. The sample can be obtained directly from the flowing mud with no preparation or alternatively the sample might comprise a prepared sample which is re-suspended in a liquid phase carrier. The sample can also be analysed for non-spectral properties which might also provide useful information in conjunction with spectral data. The method requires little or no sample preparation and can be used to quantitatively analyse both water-based and oil-based drilling fluids using a continuous in-line and/or on-line arrangement.
