  • Patent number: 11338711
Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a first seat component such as a seat pan or seat frame, and a second seat component such as a seat back. The first seat component is rotatably coupled to the second seat component by a rotatable coupling, and a laterally oriented vibration isolator is positioned between the first seat component and the second seat component at the rotatable coupling. Transmission of vibration from the first seat component to the second seat component through the rotatable coupling is suppressed by the vibration isolator. In some cases, the vibration isolator is a quazi-zero-stiffness (QZS) isolator.

  • Publication number: 20220145957
Abstract: Systems and methods for limiting transmission of vibrations and forces causing vibrations from one element to another are provided. A vibration isolator may include a compressible inner member and an outer member compressible with the inner member. The outer member may be positioned at least partially around the inner member to provide lateral support to the inner member. The outer member may maintain a consistent diameter and compression force when in a compressed state. The outer member may include a tube with a zero or near-zero Poisson's ratio.

  • Publication number: 20220145958
Abstract: A vibration isolator includes a first conical disc spring member having a first end and a second end. A first-end spacer in contact with the first spring member first end, and a second-end spacer in contact with the first spring member second end. A second conical disc spring member has a first end and a second end. The second spring member first end is in contact with the first-end spacer. Another second-end spacer is in contact with the second spring member second end. A flexible housing of the isolator defines an interior. The housing is in contact with and extends between the second-end spacer and the other second-end spacer so that the first-end spacer and the first and second spring members are received in the housing interior. The housing includes a plurality of spaced-apart through holes formed therealong between the second-end spacer and the other second-end spacer.

  • Patent number: 11248592
Abstract: A shape memory alloy actuator includes a bistable shape memory alloy strip having openings. The bistable shape memory alloy strip having a straight stable state and a curled stable state. The shape memory alloy actuator further includes a shape memory alloy wire located along a side of the bistable shape memory alloy strip. The shape memory alloy wire contracts from heat exposure with each end secured to one of the plurality of openings of the bistable shape memory alloy strip.

  • Patent number: 8801101
Abstract: A vehicle seating system including a seat back, a seat bottom, a track arrangement, a first carriage, and a second carriage is for use within a vehicle. The seat bottom is coupled to the seat back. The track arrangement is configured to be coupled to the vehicle. The first carriage is coupled to the seat bottom and is moveable within the track arrangement. The second carriage is coupled to the seat back and is moveable within the track arrangement. The second carriage and the first carriage are releasably coupled to one another so the second carriage is moveable relative to the first carriage when the coupling of the first carriage and the second carriage is released. The position of the second carriage relative to the first carriage is substantially fixed when the coupling of the first carriage and the second carriage is locked.

  • Patent number: 5992461
Abstract: A solenoid valve with a ferromagnetic flux frame which, in assembly, locates and retains the components of the solenoid valve without an exterior housing. Preferably, the solenoid valve has an electric coil disposed on a tubular coil bobbin, a plunger received within the bobbin and first and second bodies each having at least one passage with the passages selectively communicated with each other by the plunger. The flux frame preferably has two complementary halves which when mated together interconnect the first and second bodies at opposed ends of the flux frame to retain and locate the parts of the solenoid valve without an overmolded or exterior housing. Preferably, the halves of the flux frame are mated with a snap-fit to facilitate assembly of the solenoid valve.
