Patent number: 9737085Abstract: A multi-component package is provided which enables simultaneous heat cooking of a food product which does not require a long cooking time and a food product which requires a longer cooking time. The multi-component package includes a lower container including a bottomed, lower container main body for containing a first food product. The container further includes an upper container including an upper container main body for containing a second filled food product. A flange of the lower container main body and a flange of the upper container main body are engaged with each other so that the lower container and the upper container are combined integrally. A vapor vent is provided in a lower container lid material, whereby water vapor generated upon heating of the first food product heats the second food product in the upper container.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2014Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignees: Kraft Foods Group Brands LLC, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kathryn Marie Birchmeier, Paul Andrew Cogley, Noriko Sakamoto, Koji Otsuka, Takashi Kado

Patent number: 9346599Abstract: Food packaging has a base tray and a second tray which nests in the base tray. The base tray has one or more walls terminating in a land. The land has an indent in its upper surface at least partially surrounded by an indent wall which extends continuously along an inward side of the indent so as to separate the indent from a main cavity formed by the base tray walls. The second tray nested has a flange supported by the land. The flange extends partially over the indent. The indent is sized to admit a finger within the indent below the flange. In consequence, after cooking of the foods in the trays, the consumer can use the indent in gripping the flange of the second tray without direct exposure to steam from the food cooked in the base tray. The consumer can then add a selected amount of food from the second tray to the base tray.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2012Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Nestec S.A.Inventors: Erik Strilich, Bethanie L. Gasperson, Paul Andrew Cogley, Alison Wilker

Publication number: 20150291303Abstract: A perishable food package having a semi-rigid or rigid bottom tray and a flexible top portion is provided for storing a perishable food product therein. The food product can be vacuum sealed within a first layer of film, such as an inner film layer, inside the tray. The vacuum sealed food product can be tightly sealed such that any loose food particles can be restrained from moving around during storage and transportation. The tray can then be sealed at an opening by a second layer of film, such as an outer layer. A space filled with gas is present between the first and second layers of film and can aid in conserving the freshness of the food product and minimizing or preventing damage to the product. Additionally, the package can have support features positioned at an exterior of the package that aid in standing the package in an upright position.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2015Publication date: October 15, 2015Inventors: Erik Strilich, Patrick A. Gowens, Paul Andrew Cogley

Patent number: 8710410Abstract: A raised platform for microwave cooking of a food product includes legs that extend to elevate a food product support surface above the floor of a microwave oven during cooking. At least one fold line extends across the food product support surface about which the food product support surface and any food product thereon can be folded. Susceptor material of the food product support surface is disposed on both sides of a fold region of the support surface and extends on both sides of the at least one fold line. The fold region is substantially free from the susceptor material allowing a food product heated on the food product surface to remain flexible to permit folding of the food product with reduced cracking or breaking. The raised platform may further include a second susceptor material disposed on a bottom surface of the food product support surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2009Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignee: Kraft Foods Group Brands LLCInventors: Patrick A. Patent number: 8525087Abstract: Multi-purpose food preparation kits for foods which include dough, at least a portion of which is exposed for cooking, browning, and crisping, and optionally rising. The kits include a support base of susceptor material elevated above a support surface by an elevator member either incorporated with a base or separate therefrom. Kits further include a ring component of susceptor material which surrounds the food product, and which is dimensioned larger than the initial dimensions of the food product, so as to be spaced therefrom, at least initially, prior to cooking The space inside the ring component allows the dough to rise during cooking without obstruction by the susceptor ring and without imparting thermal energy from the susceptor ring to the dough surface. In one embodiment the susceptor base it provided in the form of a shipping carton.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2011Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Nestec S.A.Inventors: Derek Joseph Romeo, Paul Andrew Cogley, Amy Lynn Matusheski, Keith Eric Petrofsky, Peter Privert, Uraiwan Tangprasertchai, Steven Paul Greiner, Neil Edward Darin, Joseph R.
