  • Publication number: 20120181048
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a debris barrier assembly having a sleeve, an outer housing assembly coupled to the sleeve, and first and second biasing members disposed within the outer housing assembly. A support member is coupled to the sleeve and is in contact with an end of the first and second biasing members. The debris barrier assembly is coupled to a polished bore receptacle to prevent debris from entering the PBR. The debris barrier assembly is operable to compensate for a pressure differential between the internal region of the PBR and the external region of the surrounding wellbore. The debris barrier assembly and the PBR may be run in the wellbore on a work string, and the sleeve may be actuated to actuate a downhole tool connected to the sleeve to perform a downhole operation. The debris barrier assembly may be retrieved from the wellbore using the work string.

  • Publication number: 20100089591
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to an expandable liner hanger capable of being expanded into a surrounding casing. In one aspect, an expandable tubular system is provided. The system includes an expandable tubular. The system further includes an expansion swage for expanding the expandable tubular, wherein the expansion swage is deformable from a compliant configuration to a smaller substantially non-compliant configuration. Additionally, the system includes a restriction member disposed on an exterior surface of the expandable tubular, wherein expansion of the expandable tubular in the location of the restriction member deforms the expansion swage from the compliant configuration to the smaller substantially non-compliant configuration. In another aspect, a method of expanding a liner hanger using a cone is provided.

  • Patent number: 7390250
Abstract: A temporarily mountable strip door system includes a strip mounting frame. The frame has mounting features to enable releasable coupling to an exterior of an opening in a building. A plurality of flexible door strips are affixed to the mounting frame. The system includes means for releasably affixing the mounting frame to the exterior of the opening. A method for controlling climate in a temporarily enclosed space include moving conditioned air from inside a device having a permanent heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit associated therewith through a duct into the temporarily enclosed space. Air is returned air from the temporarily enclosed space to the inside of the device.

  • Patent number: 6439307
Abstract: An apparatus and method for maintaining the pressure of a well fluid sample as the sample is transported to the well surface from a downhole wellbore location. The invention collects a formation fluid sample under pressure. The fluid sample is further pressurized with a traveling piston powered by the hydrostatic wellbore pressure. The pressurized formation fluid sample is contained under high pressure within a fixed volume chamber for retrieval to the well surface. Multiple collection tanks can be lowered into the wellbore during the same run to sample different zones with minimal rig time. The tanks can be emptied at the well surface with an evacuation pressure so that the fluid sample pressure is maintained above a selected pressure at all times.

  • Patent number: 5660232
Abstract: The apparatus and method of the present invention involve a casing or liner component that has a sliding sleeve operable therein. A plurality of ports are plugged off externally to the liner. A series of perforating charges are aligned adjacent the plugs extending from the ports which they plug. The charges may be set off hydraulically with the valve within the liner in the open or closed position, depending on the configuration. The perforating charges may be oriented differently with respect to each other to increase the zone of perforation of the formation. The plugs and charges can be distributed in such a manner as to obtain significant coverage of perforations for the zone in question.
