  • Patent number: 6476480
Abstract: An IC power package particularly suitable for use as a rectifier for an automotive ac generator, as well as an IC packaging method. The power package comprises an electrically-conductive base, a MOSFET die mounted to the base so that the drain region of the MOSFET is electrically connected to the base, an electrically-conductive pin mounted to the die and electrically connected to the source region of the MOSFET, and an electrically-conductive member electrically connected to the gate region of the MOSFET. The conductive member can take several forms, including a second pin or a leadframe mounted to the die, or an annular-shaped member mounted to the base by an electrically-insulative member. In the latter embodiment, the annular-shaped member may be electrically connected to the gate region with a bond wire. The die is preferably encapsulated on the base, so that the base, pin and conductive member provide three connections for a rugged IC package.

  • Patent number: 4782880
Abstract: A high performance passenger tire features improved bead assemblies. The bead assemblies include a split ply formed of two short insert plies of rubberized steel cords bent around the bead cores with their inside ends extending radially outwardly from the bead cores a distance greater than the distance from their outside ends to the bead cores. The cords of the insert plies form low angles with respect to the circumferential center line of said tire. The bead assemblies have extended utility when utilized in high performance belted radial pneumatic tires.

  • Patent number: 4644988
Abstract: A predominantly styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber (SBR) tire tread compound may be reinforced with a special high structure carbon black designated herein as a N103, having a relatively high volatiles content (as indicated by its iodine number), and a superfine particle size smaller than about 20 nanometers (nm), a DBPA greater than 120 cm.sup.3 /100 g carbon black, and an I.sub.2 No in the range from 130-160 mg/g, in an oil extended tread compound in which there is at least 30 parts of processing oil per 100 parts of rubber; the presence of this N103 black in a major amount relative to the total amount of high structure black, is essential.
