Abstract: A method for acquiring time synchronization and location information with a Femtocell includes an access point base station conveying an activation request to a service provider through a wired connection, where the service provider provides wireless communication in a macro area, and where the access point base station provides wireless communication in a local area. The method also includes the access point base station performing a first plurality of procedures to acquire a time synchronization and a second plurality of procedures to acquire a location of the access point base station.

Abstract: A circuit including an analog to digital converter and a processor is disclosed. The analog to digital converter may be configured to generate a plurality of samples from a received signal in response to a reference signal. The processor may be configured to designate one of an early sample of the samples and a late sample of the samples as an ideal sample in response to a first timing error of an on-time sample of the samples being greater than one-half a sample period of the received signal.

Abstract: A method for connecting to an access point base station is presented in the application. Current location information of the mobile access terminal may be determined. The current location information may be determined using positioning location circuitry of the mobile access terminal to determine the current location information. Alternatively, the current location information may be determined by receiving the current location information from an external source. The mobile access terminal may determine the current location based on signals from macro base stations or other base stations, e.g., using triangulation. If the current location information indicates, the mobile access terminal may then connect to an access point base station.
