  • Publication number: 20080000326
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the purification of a molten metal containing one or more foreign elements. The molten metal is cooled to a eutectic temperature to simultaneously form purified metal crystals and crystals containing at least one foreign element, and at least some of the crystals containing at least one foreign element are separated from the purified metal crystals by using a solid-solid separation technique.

  • Publication number: 20050039578
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the proportion of aluminum crystals in a mixture of molten aluminum alloy and aluminum crystals. The electrical resistance of the mixture is determined with the aid of a four-point measurement. With the aid of the measured electrical resistance, the proportion of crystals in the mixture can be kept constant within narrow margins. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 6173287
Abstract: A technique for accessing an item of interest within a particular one of a plurality of stored representations of data is disclosed. In one embodiment, the technique is realized by having a processing device searching a plurality of stored annotations corresponding to different items within the plurality of stored representations to locate an annotation of interest corresponding to the item of interest. The annotation of interest has an associated search identifier and an associated location identifier corresponding to a location of interest within the particular one of the plurality of stored representations. The processing device then searches a plurality of stored search identifiers associated with the plurality of stored annotations to locate the search identifier and an address identifier corresponding to a location of the particular one of the plurality of stored representations within the plurality of stored representations.

  • Patent number: 4433602
Abstract: A portable electric keyboard musical instrument is disclosed which includes a plurality of sound producing elements with each fixedly attached to the supporting structure, and a plurality of actions for selectively causing respective elements to vibrate. Each action is supported on the supporting structure and associated with one of the elements. Each action also includes a hammer assembly for selectively striking one of the reeds and an escapement assembly for initiating the striking action of the hammer associated therewith and to control its motion thereafter until reactivated. A plurality of keys are provided each associated with one of the actions for actuating its hammer assembly so as to strike its respective element. The action is a modified Viennese action characterized in one particular by the elimination of a pin axle and by the use of a resilient hinge.

  • Patent number: 4317967
Abstract: A telephone fault isolation device is installed between customer telephone equipment, such as a PBX or KSU, and telephone company trunk lines feeding into such equipment, and is used to determine whether possible trouble is in the telephone company trunk lines or in the customer equipment. The device includes a monitoring device, such as a telephone handset, and an array of switches each associated with a telephone trunk line. Each of the switches, in a normal condition, connects the trunk line to the equipment, and, in a test condition, connects the trunk line to the monitoring device. A telephone customer can switch over each of the switches in turn and determine whether he can obtain dial tone on that respective trunk line.
