  • Publication number: 20050194499
Abstract: Systems and methodologies associated with a monitor stand that accommodates monitors with various weights and that facilitates adjusting the height of a monitor without locking the monitor in position are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes a base, means for providing a fixed lifting force for holding the monitor in the user-selected vertical position, a guide supported by the base, and an attachment assembly that moves vertically within the guide and that supports the monitor. The attachment assembly can be configured to receive the lifting force. The monitor stand can also include a friction assembly operably connected to the guide and/or the attachment assembly. The friction assembly can be configured to produce a user selected frictional force between the guide and the attachment assembly that helps hold the monitor in the user-selected vertical position without locking the monitor in place.

  • Patent number: 6933712
Abstract: A transmitter that is electrically connected to a circuit and an associated receiver is used to identify an element of that circuit in the presence of other circuits. This may be used in AC or DC systems that are powered or not to identify or trace circuit elements such as lines, junctions, switches, fuses, or breakers. One version that identifies the circuit breaker of the circuit connected to the transmitter in a powered AC distribution system.

  • Publication number: 20050121583
Abstract: A swivel support base apparatus is disclosed. One embodiment of the swivel support base apparatus includes a frame, a swivel mechanism, said swivel mechanism including a foot having a defined frictional coefficient that enables rotation of the frame and impedes translational movement of the foot, and secondary feet connected to the frame and disposed in locations surrounding the swivel mechanism, said secondary feet having a lower frictional coefficient than the foot.

  • Patent number: 6647494
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for checking authorization of remote configuration operations. The method comprises generating a request credential manifest to request an update of configurable parameters on a client platform. Furthermore, the method comprises signing the request credential manifest with a manifest digital signature, which was generated using a private key in a cryptographic key pair. In addition, the method further comprises verifying the manifest digital signature using a public key to ascertain that the request credential manifest was generated by an authorized console platform.

  • Patent number: 6508135
Abstract: A liquid flow meter for directly measuring the velocity of a liquid is disclosed. The liquid flow meter includes a pair transducers arranged facing each other in a conduit through which the liquid flows. The liquid flow meter also includes a transmitter means for causing the transducers to simultaneously transmit an acoustic wave packet directed for reception at the other transducer. A differential receiver means is also included whereby the differential receiver means has inputs each coupled to a corresponding one of the transducers for detecting an acoustic signal received thereby and determining a difference between the two received signals. The difference being related to the velocity of the liquid within the conduit. The transmitter means and the differential receiver means are each matched to the transducers to ensure substantial reciprocity to thereby substantially avoid phase and/or amplitude variations in the received signal. A method for measuring the velocity of a liquid is also disclosed.
