  • Patent number: 5039268
Abstract: Apparatus for binding a plurality of sheets of paper or other media, including an assembly for clamping a plurality of sheets together with binding edges of respective sheets in alignment, and an assembly for coating the binding edges of the sheets with a quick-drying adhesive. The coating assembly advantageously includes an applicator member such as a porous pad, a supply of adhesive to the applicator member and a slidable mounting for the applicator member to guide the member along the binding edges of the clamped sheets. The applicator pad and adhesive may be contained in a telescoping housing which opens to expose the applicator pad during the process of sliding the housing toward and along the binding edges of the sheets.

  • Patent number: 4636881
Abstract: A talking book includes front and back panels. A microcassette tape player and logical circuitry with left and right infrared detectors are located at the top of the back panel. A ring binder is located at the left of the back panel adjacent the spline and below the left and right infrared detectors. A housing below the ring binder carries an infrared source that energizes the left and right infrared detectors. The housing also carries a headset jack. A conduit located beside the ring binder accommodates wires between the logical circuitry and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4416496
Abstract: In an electrical connector provided with side openings mounted on protruding edge contacts of a printed circuit board, providing an opening through the main body of the board on each side of the protruding edge contacts. A flat-bottomed upper portion of an anchor rests on top of the board, if placed horizontally, and a pin extends downwardly from one end of the anchor through an opening in the board. A block extends downwardly from the opposite end of the anchor approximately perpendicular to the pin and distanced therefrom so that the inner face of the block is flush with the edge of the board. The outer end face of the block conforms with the outer end of the upper portion of the anchor. A cylindrical horizontal opening extends between the outer and inner faces of the block. When the connector is pushed onto the edge contacts, the connector openings align with the anchor openings, and a screw may be inserted through each aligned pair of openings to secure the connector in place.

  • Patent number: 4092698
Abstract: A protective case for an electrical instrument on a circuit board, arranged to mount the instrument upon a panel in an opening provided therein. The case is characterized by a housing having an end opening for introduction of the circuit board therein and a snap-in mounting structure for automatically and securely mounting a circuit board within the housing. The mounting structure includes means forming a ledge, provided for example by four corner platforms molded into the housing, for supporting one side of the circuit board. Two pairs of opposed resilient fingers, preferably molded integrally with the walls of the housing, extend with an inward cant along the path of the circuit board from opposite interior sides of the housing to be flexed outwardly by the edges of the circuit board as it is introduced into the housing.
