Publication number: 20230077723Abstract: The present invention pertains generally to the field of therapeutic compounds. More specifically the present invention pertains to certain N-substituted-3,4-(fused 5-ring)-5-phenyl-pyrrolidin-2-one compounds (also referred to herein as “FRPPO compounds”), that, inter alia, inhibit glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase-like (isoQC) enzyme and/or glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase (QC) enzyme (e.g., inhibit or reduce or block the activity or function of isoQC and/or QC enzyme). The present invention also pertains to pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds, and the use of such compounds and compositions, both in vitro and in vivo, to inhibit isoQC and/or QC enzyme; to treat disorders that are ameliorated by the inhibition of isoQC and/or QC enzyme; to treat cancer, atherosclerosis, fibrotic diseases, infectious diseases, Alzheimer's disease, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2020Publication date: March 16, 2023Applicant: Scenic Immunology B.V.Inventors: Bastiaan Evers, Paul E. Patent number: 10606893Abstract: Mechanisms are provided in which a first knowledge graph, comprising nodes representing entities and edges between nodes indicative of a relationship between the entities, is received. The mechanisms identify a candidate missing edge connecting a node of the first knowledge graph to another node not present in the first knowledge graph and evaluate the candidate missing edge to determine if the candidate missing edge should be added to the first knowledge graph. The mechanisms expand the first knowledge graph to include the candidate missing edge connecting the node to a newly added node that is newly added to the first knowledge graph, to thereby generate an expanded knowledge graph, in response to the evaluation indicating that the candidate missing edge should be added to the first knowledge graph. The mechanisms then perform an operation on the expanded knowledge graph to generate a knowledge output.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2016Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul E. Brennan, Scott R. Carrier, Michael L. Stickler

Techniques for transforming questions of a question set to facilitate answer aggregation and display
Patent number: 10490094Abstract: A technique for transforming questions for a question answering (QA) system includes clustering received questions by contextual accordance into a question set. A base lexical answer type (LAT) for the question set is determined. LATs of discordant questions in the question set are transformed to the base LAT. Answers for the questions in the question set are aggregated. The aggregated answers are then displayed.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul E. Patent number: 10271453Abstract: A chassis rail stabilizer that may be used to securely support a rack mount rail in a server rack, in particular during transportation of the server rack. The chassis rail stabilizer includes a first body with a front face and a back face, and four rail supporting sides. The stabilizer further includes a second body extending off of the front face of the first body and an offset threaded through hole that extends through the first and second bodies. The offset nature of the through hole is such that the stabilizer may be secured to a vertical mounting post in a server rack in one of four orientations. Each orientation causes one of the rail supporting sides to extend downward a different distance to support a top surface of the rail beneath.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2016Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: VCE IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Paul E. Brennan, Mark Steven Tuck

Patent number: 10248689Abstract: Candidate answers are generated by a question-answering system in response to a question from a user. One or more generated candidate answers are compared to previous question-answer sets. The previous question-answer sets are indexed and stored in a database which includes a knowledge graph on the previous questions-answer sets. A previous question-answer set is identified as correlating with a first generated candidate answers. The previous question-answer set is identified using relationships of the database. The first generated candidate answer is restructured using the question as a statement which is embedded with the first generated candidate answer. The restructured generated candidate answer which correlates with the previous question-answer set is supplemented with content from the previous question-answer set.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2015Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul E. Brennan, Scott R. Carrier, Michael L. Stickler

Publication number: 20180075368Abstract: A method, system and a computer program product are provided for classifying elements in a ground truth training set by iteratively assigning machine-annotated training set elements to clusters which are analyzed to identify a prioritized cluster containing one or more elements which are frequently misclassified and display machine-annotated training set elements associated with the first prioritized cluster along with a warning that the first prioritized cluster contains one or more elements which are frequently misclassified to solicit verification or correction feedback from a human subject matter expert (SME) for inclusion in an accepted training set.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2016Publication date: March 15, 2018Inventors: Paul E. Patent number: 9058374Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for generating section metadata for an electronic document. These mechanisms receive a document and analyze the document to identify concepts present within textual content of the document. The mechanisms correlate concepts within the textual content with one another to identify concept groups based on the application of one or more rules defining related concepts or concept patterns. The mechanisms determine sections of text within the textual content based on the correlation of concepts within the textual content. Based on results of the determining, the mechanisms generate section metadata for the document and store the section metadata in association with the document for use by a document processing system.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2013Date of Patent: June 16, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul E.
