  • Patent number: 4463696
Abstract: A looper throw-out mechanism is provided for bodily moving the looper out of its normal operative position for servicing. The throw-out mechanism includes a looper drive shaft having the looper releasably connected thereto, an operator actuated mechanism for selectively disconnecting the looper from its drive shaft to enable free bodily movement of the looper to an inoperative position, and a locking mechanism to prevent undesirable disconnection of the looper from its drive shaft. When looper servicing is desired, the locking mechanism is released by the operator permitting the looper to be disconnected from its actuating shaft and turned to a service position removed from its operative position. Upon its return, the looper is automatically coupled to its drive shaft in an operative position.

  • Patent number: 4077342
Abstract: A sewing machine thread trimming mechanism for severing both the needle thread and bobbin thread close to the workpiece at the end of a stitching operation and for providing a sufficient length of bobbin thread after trimming so that stitching on a succeeding seam may proceed. The thread trimming mechanism includes a trimming device having two pivotly connected moveable blades which are swingably mounted beneath the sewing machine throat plate. One of the blades is mounted for movement into the needle thread and bobbin thread path whereby engaging and carrying the same into severing engagement with the second moveable blade. The second moveable blade is eccentrically pivoted relative the first blade and is provided with a floating fulcrum which controls the movement of the second blade so as to produce a true scissor like action between the two blades.

  • Patent number: 3967568
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a thread cutter for effecting the cutting of a thread at the termination of a sewing action with a sewing machine. The thread cutter is particularly effective on synthetic threads, such as nylon and monofilament, which are more difficult to cut than cotton thread. The thread cutter includes a pair of relatively movable blades having a scissor action to produce an effective thread cutting operation. The thread cutter is very compact and does not require any bulky attachment on the arm of the machine, as is usually required.
