Patent number: 11733006Abstract: A revetment container including series of compartments conjoined to form a line of compartments with each compartment including a first sub-compartment and a second sub-compartment with the two sub-compartments having differing thickness in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the series of compartments and a thinner of the two sub-compartments including one or more tension bearing members to control thickness expansion of the thinner sub-compartment where the bearing member is longer than the unstressed thickness of the thinner sub-compartment and preferentially located in a top half of the height of the thinner sub-compartment. Additionally, a revetment container compartment may be provided with a sub-compartment sized to accept ballistic panels which can quickly be inserted to attain some level of protection. Furthermore a revetment contain compartment may be augmented with the addition of slat armor.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2019Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AS REPRESENTED BY THE SECRETARY OF THE ARMYInventors: John Paulson, Brennan S Fridley, Gerrit Van Ommering, Joshua M Peterson, Paul F Mlakar

Patent number: 11680553Abstract: A system and method for harvesting electric energy from the earth's gravitational field includes a pneumatic, potential energy (PE) system which cumulatively generates a volume of compressed air with an energy equal to PE, during a predetermined duty cycle. This energy can then be released as an instantaneous burst of energy in the next consecutive duty cycle. Also included is an electro-magnetic system which continuously generates kinetic energy (KE) as a shuttle falls under the influence of gravity during each duty cycle. An interface between the two systems is provided by a water column that separates the two systems yet allows them to be interactive. Specifically, the burst of PE manipulates the water column to maintain its integrity as the shuttle uses the water column as a water pathway for a return to the shuttle's start point under the influence of its buoyancy.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2021Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Gravitas E2P Inc.Inventors: Neil K. Nydegger, Paul F. Mlakar, David L. Nydegger

Publication number: 20160377388Abstract: Soil-filled barriers, normally filled with heavy equipment, can be made quickly effective against small arms fire by modifying each cell of a barrier line (wall) with internal closeable gates that allow users to manually shovel fill a small arms security position in 65% less time than manually filling a standard barrier. Select embodiments of the present invention include gates that are inexpensive and lightweight compared to alternatives and readily fielded, in some instances as a field expedient modification. In select embodiments of the present invention the gates may be integrated into fielded conventional barriers, including employing field expedient means, as well as incorporated into production lines of new barriers specifically for use by light military units that operate in restrictive terrain.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2013Publication date: December 29, 2016Applicant: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers(r)Inventors: Gerrit P. Patent number: 5599082Abstract: A hardened load carrying device includes a unitarily constructed container for holding the load. The container has an opening which is partially bordered by a slot that includes opposed crooked thumbs which project into the channel of the slot. A door for covering the opening of the container has a pair of opposed crooked fingers which are attached along part of the edge of the door to establish a bite. To enclose the load in the container the bite of the door is slidingly received into the slot bordering the opening to cover the opening and engage the crooked fingers of the door with the crooked thumbs of the slot. In an alternate embodiment the crooked thumbs of the slot are replaced by opposed lips which extend inwardly to establish a T-shaped or rounded slot, and the crooked fingers and the door are replaced by a flange which is slidingly received into the T-shaped or rounded slot. Any joints which are established between panels of the container are reinforced using a double thickness of material.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1994Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Assignee: JaycorInventors: Paul F. Mlakar, Joseph L. Smith

Patent number: 5595431Abstract: A strengthened hardened telescoping load carrying device includes a container and a door, with the door being attached to the container by means of an interlocking rail and cradle, or by means of an interlocking set of J-channels. Pins are inserted through holes in the interlocking elements to maintain the interlocking elements in alignment. The interlocking elements on the container and on the door engage with increasing force in the event of an explosion within the device.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1995Date of Patent: January 21, 1997Assignee: JaycorInventor: Paul F. Mlakar

Patent number: 5413410Abstract: A hardened telescoping load carrying device includes a plurality of telescoping container sections with interlocking edges and a door with interlocking edges. The telescoping sections are loaded with baggage one at a time and then extended outwardly. The interlocking edges on the telescoping sections interlock when the device is in the fully extended configuration. The interlocking edges on the telescoping sections and on the door engage with increasing force in the event of an explosion within the device.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1994Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: JaycorInventor: Paul F.
