  • Patent number: 4735509
Abstract: A system and method for mixing and dispensing grout to be used for anchoring of bolts or bars in the floors, walls or ceilings of structures or excavations is disclosed. The system comprises a caulking tube in which grout components, a catalyst and a mastic, have been placed inside a plastic bag along with an assembly for mixing the grout and a mixing rod. When the grout is ready to be used the dispensing tip of the caulking tube is cut off and the mixing rod is inserted through the opening in the tip and into a slot cut in a wall of the mixing assembly. The other end of the mixing rod is formed so that it may be inserted into the chuck of a drill. When the drill is operated, the mixer assembly, upon which mixing blades have been installed, rotates and as the drill is pressed forward the mixer assembly is moved longitudinally through the tube mixing the components of the grout.

  • Patent number: 4497403
Abstract: A cartridge comprised of a multiplicity of at least four smaller longitudinal pockets, each pocket containing a component of a multi-component of a self-setting mix to provide blending together of intermixing of the components when the bundle of pockets in the cartridge are ruptured in a bore hole by inward pressure from an anchor element. In one embodiment of the invention the pockets are formed in partially filled envelopes so that when the envelopes are packed together in longitudinal relationship, the resulting cartridge has a generally circular cross-section. The cartridge is held within an outer porous casing, such as netting. In another embodiment of the invention the pockets extend from a common base.

  • Patent number: 4129007
Abstract: An anchor device to be used in a hole with a bolt in connection with a cartridge containing a hardenable resin or other fast setting material. The bolt has a threaded shank and at least one lug means extending from the threaded shank. The anchor is an elongate cylindrical shell with a central passage to receive the bolt, thereby forming an anchor-bolt unit. The anchor has a first open end and a second closed end and also has an internally threaded portion for receiving the bolt. The bolt extends outwardly at the first end with the lug means of the bolt being located adjacent the closed second end of the anchor. The anchor-bolt unit is inserted in the hole after the cartridge has been inserted in the hole whereby when the bolt is rotated in a first sense there is a tendency to unthread the bolt from the anchor, but the bolt lug prevents complete withdrawal and instead the anchor is rotated to expel and mix the contents of the cartridge.
