  • Patent number: 5345726
Abstract: A grinding bit apparatus used in conjunction with a grinding machine. A water pump in the form of a cylindrically shaped member having a helical groove on the surface thereof is mounted on the drive shaft of the grinding machine, a lower end portion thereof being located in a water reservoir. A grinding bit is mounted to the drive shaft above the water pump and is passively connected with the water pump so as to rotate with the drive shaft. One or more washers are placed between the water pump and the grinding bit so as to selectively vary the location of the working surface of the grinding bit with respect to the work table. An annular collar openings is provided which depends from the work table to surround the water pump and any portion of the grinding bit below the work surface.

  • Patent number: 4672874
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved apparatus for scoring glass wherein a scoring wheel is rotatably mounted on an axle within a novel mounting bracket. The mounting bracket can be the extension of the handle of a manual glass scoring device or integrated within a cartridge for an automated or semi-automated glass scoring machine. One of the unique features of the improved apparatus of this invention resides in the spatial geometry of the clearance between the mounting bracket and the scoring wheel. The enhanced degree of clearance between these two components substantially reduces maintenance requirements and improves consistency of performance. This results in reduction in accumulation of glass chips between the wheel and the mounting bracket, thereby insuring continuous freedom of movement of the scoring wheel within the bracket even after extended periods of use. Such enhanced clearance also enables simple and precise lubrication of the axle which supports the scoring wheel.

  • Patent number: 4516357
Abstract: A coolant supply apparatus for use with a grinding apparatus having a vertical rotating grinding tool is disclosed. Coolant is contained in a reservoir underneath a work table on which the work piece to be ground is supported. The lower portion of the grinding tool sits in the coolant in the reservoir and an impeller is attached to the lower portion of the grinding tool. An annular collar depending from the bottom of the work table surrounds the impeller and a portion of the grinding tool. As the impeller rotates it throws coolant up into the collar and a bevelled edge at the upper portion of the collar directs the coolant onto the surface of the grinding tool.

  • Patent number: 3963139
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure combination consisting of a container having a circular neck and a twist-on cap therefor. The container neck has external interrupted thread sections with ratchet teeth on their under surfaces. The cap has similar, cooperating internal thread sections on the inner surface of its skirt with ratchet teeth on their upper surfaces. When the cap is turned onto the neck, the sets of ratchet teeth interengage and lock the cap against retrograde rotation. The cap also has a puller which is connected to the cap, a first section thereof being connected by frangible portions and a second section thereof being connected permanently to said cap. In order to remove the cap, the puller is broken away at the first section and then is pulled upwardly and outwardly relative to the container neck to disengage the cooperating sets of ratchet teeth. The cap is replaced by turning it onto the bottle neck for re-engaging the cooperating threads and ratchet teeth.
