  • Patent number: 7408121
Abstract: A raceway system having forwardly open channel-shaped base members with opposed longitudinally extending side walls, and the side walls including inwardly and rearwardly projecting marginal edge flanges, the improvement wherein the raceway covers must be slid into these elongated base members to define at least one wireway therebetween, the covers including clips with wing portions adapted for nesting relationship between the base side walls and the base marginal edge flanges, whereby the covers cannot be disassembled from the base members as a result of flexing the base side walls, but must be disassembled by sliding them apart. These clips also include leg portions that extend well inside the base to prevent attempts to push the cover into the base, and thereby spread the base side walls to gain access to the interior wireway(s).
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 5, 2008
    Assignee: The Wiremold Company

  • Patent number: 6485291
Abstract: A spark-generating device for a lighter that has a sparker configured and adapted to produce sparks, and preferably a cover configured and adapted to substantially prevent operational contact of the sparker by a finger of a user during actuation of the sparker, the device including at least one manipulable member configured and adapted for manipulation and movement by a user and having at least two associations with the sparker. In a first association, the manipulable member is independently movable with respect to the sparker, and in an operable association, the manipulable member is coupled with the sparker to move the sparker.

  • Patent number: 6382960
Abstract: A child resistant lighter is disclosed which includes an actuator and a latch member pivotally coupled thereto. The latch member, when in an inoperative position, is aligned with a blocking surface of the lighter body, thus, preventing inadvertent lighting of the lighter. When in an operative position, the latch member is pivoted out of alignment with the blocking surface so that the lighter can function.

  • Patent number: 5993198
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for providing more uniform lighter spark wheel actuation. Uniform actuation is facilitated in the apparatus according to the invention by reducing the formation of deep grooves and high ridges in the flint. In one embodiment of the invention, a spark wheel coil formed from wire having at least one substantially flat side is utilized to reduce ridge formation. The spark wheel coil includes pitting in a transversal direction made on the outer surface of the coil. The pitting forms projections which protrude from the core of the coil and which, when contacting a pyrophoric flint while the coil spring is rotated about its axis, produce a tangential cutting across the pyrophoric flint to emit an ignition spark.

  • Patent number: 5980239
Abstract: A lighter of the disposable type, ignition of which requires depression of an actuator that is resistant to the manipulations of unintended users. The lighter is normally maintained in a position that prevents depression of the actuator through the incorporation of a mechanism that increases the difficulty of operation. The actuation inhibiting mechanism requires a downward displacement and a tilted displacement in order to allow full depression of the actuator and activation of an ignition mechanism. Preferably, at least one biasing element is provided so that when the actuator is displaced through the application of force by a user, it returns to the initial blocking position when the force is removed.

  • Patent number: 5769098
Abstract: The lighter of the present invention provides a resiliently deformable guard that covers a portion of the striking wheel assembly. To operate the lighter, a user exerts sufficient pressure to displace the guard before rotating the striking wheel assembly. The configuration of the guard with respect to other elements of the lighter and/or one or more retention means of the guard increases the retention of the guard. Further, the lighter of the present invention may provide a brake member to prevent the rotation of the striking wheel assembly when the user attempts to release fuel or rotate the striking wheel assembly before or without displacement of the guard.
