  • Publication number: 20240069596
Abstract: A head-mounted device may include a main housing portion and displays in the main housing portion that provide images to eye boxes. A light seal may be coupled to the main housing portion and may at least partially surround the eye boxes. The head-mounted device may include sweat mitigation structures such as moisture-guiding channels in the light seal to guide sweat and other moisture away from the eye boxes. The moisture-guiding channels may be formed from grooves or moisture-wicking fabric. Control circuitry may adjust a fan based on humidity, temperature, or fog detected by a sensor. The light seal may include a directional pattern of grooves through which moisture is guided away from the eye boxes. A moisture barrier layer may be interposed between an inner foam layer and an outer light-blocking fabric to prevent sweat from penetrating into the foam.

  • Publication number: 20120304962
Abstract: A method for estimating a combustion torque acting upon a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine is described. In one example, the method includes acquiring an instantaneous engine speed signal, calculating a cyclic engine speed signal based on the instantaneous engine speed signal, averaging the cyclic engine speed signal, correcting the averaged cyclic engine speed signal for engine losses, and estimating the combustion torque based on the corrected averaged cyclic engine speed signal. The description also concerns a control unit for an internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20060070438
Abstract: An apparatus for determining a density-compensated liquid level in a vessel containing a mixture of liquid and vapors comprises a temperature sensor which produces a signal that is proportional to the temperature of the mixture; and a processing apparatus that includes one or more pressure sensors that allow for a measurement of an operating pressure and a differential pressure between the mixture in the vessel and a constant reference leg. The processing apparatus further includes an integral microprocessor for calculating the respective specific gravities of the liquid and vapor portions of the mixture based on the operating pressure, and then computing the density-compensated liquid level in the vessel based on such calculations of specific gravity and the differential pressure.

  • Patent number: 5681991
Abstract: A method of testing a fuel system of an internal combustion engine comprises measuring the instantaneous speed of a component of a pumping apparatus of the system this speed decreasing as fuel is pressurised to achieve fuel delivery to the engine as compared with the nominal engine speed due to "wind up" in the drive to the engine. The speed profiles obtained as fuel is supplied to each injection nozzle and compared to determine if the injection nozzles are working correctly.
