  • Patent number: 5497052
Abstract: A constant wattage ballast transformer of the isolated type permitting the electrical grounding of a mounting shell of the lamp it powers in which a primary, secondary and auxiliary winding are provided with the primary winding inducing voltage into the auxiliary and secondary windings while being electrically isolated from both these windings and the auxiliary winding electrically connected to the secondary winding to add its induced voltage to that directly induced in the secondary winding from the primary winding.

  • Patent number: 4891562
Abstract: A regulator circuit for a high intensity discharge lamp includes a magnetic regulator having three windings, the primary and second thereof being connected to line voltage and a lamp. The tertiary winding is connected to a storage capacitor and to a reactor circuit having an inductive reactor and a semi-conductor switch in series. Lamp voltage and current signals are derived by a control circuit which turns the semi-conductor switch on at specific times in each half cycle of operation. The firing angle of the switch is altered to regulate the lamp operating characteristics despite line voltage changes and operating voltage variations resulting from lamp aging and other factors. The control circuit can also be operated as a lamp dimmer circuit.

  • Patent number: 4866347
Abstract: A starting and operating circuit for a super compact fluorescent lamp includes ballast and discharge circuits for applying current to the filaments of the lamp and then apply starting pulses which enable the lamp to commence operation. The circuits include discharge devices and assure operation and proper starting of the lamp under low temperature as well as moderate temperature conditions.
