  • Publication number: 20160193440
Abstract: A fluid delivery connection includes a cuff to engage a port. A finger extends away from the cuff, and the finger is configured to interact with the port. A locking sleeve is movably disposed at least partially about the cuff and the finger. The locking sleeve is selectively movable between an unlocked configuration wherein the finger is movable and a locked configuration wherein the finger is secured to the port. A method of connection to a gas port includes moving a locking sleeve of a connector into an unlocked configuration. A finger of the connector is translated along the gas port and the locking sleeve is moved into a locked configuration.

  • Publication number: 20150167877
Abstract: A connector arrangement for attaching a gas conduit to a gas supply device and visually indicating the proper connection between the two components. The connector arrangement includes a connector attached to a gas conduit and a receptacle formed on a gas supply device. A visual indicator is associated with the receptacle such that when the connector is properly received within the receptacle, the visual indicator provides a visual indication to the user that the connection has been made. The visual indicator can include two distinct colors that provide a visual indication of whether a proper connection has been made. The visual indicator could alternatively include a light that is illuminated when the proper connection is made.

  • Publication number: 20050090840
Abstract: The proposed meniscus suturing machine provides quick, strong, reliable sutures to torn medial menisci. An electronically controlled pneumatic system powers the suturing process. The meniscus suturing machine utilizes the chain stitch, a common sewing stitch, and applies it to the repair of torn menisci using only a single thread. The designed device is simple to use, with an on/off switch and fire button. While the device is simple, it has internal fault protection devices such as an automatic emergency shutoff and suture recovery loop. The device also comes apart easily, with a disposable needle-thread system. An autoclave sterilizes the remaining portion of the device. The initial application of the design is to suture medial menisci, but modifications will allow the suturing device to accommodate other areas too, such as the lateral meniscus. The benefits of the suturing device include a reduction in operating time and complexity of meniscus repairs.

  • Patent number: 5762066
Abstract: A High Intensity Focused Ultrasound system is provided for treatment of focal disease. The preferred embodiment includes an intracavity probe having two active ultrasound radiating surfaces with different focal geometries. Selectively energizing the first surface focuses therapeutic energy a first distance from the housing, energizing the second surface focuses therapeutic energy nearer the housing. Preferably, the probe includes a thin, flexible, inelastic membrane which is rigidized with pressure to allow blunt manipulation of tissue. Methods of use of the probe are also provided, particularly for treatment of diseases of the prostate.
