Patent number: 10400445Abstract: An acoustic seal for a sound flanking path between an an interior architectural separation and a mullion. The seal may be configured as an elongated rail having first and seal surfaces with adhesive elements disposed on laterally offset first and second adhesive-bearing portions thereof. When installed, the elongated rail can maintain a non-deformed state when opposing faces of the mullion and the architectural separation are separated by a distance equal to the elongated rail thickness. The elongated rail can assume a deformed state when the opposing faces of the mullion and the architectural separation are separated by a distance greater than the elongated rail thickness. In the deformed state, the longitudinal edges of the elongated rail become offset from each other in a direction normal to first and second seal surfaces. The elongated rail cross-section flexes proximate to first and second flex locations that may optionally include stress relief features.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2017Date of Patent: September 3, 2019Assignee: STC Architectural Products, LLCInventor: Paul L. Patent number: 10041245Abstract: An acoustic sleeper for sound suppression in a floor assembly may be formed as a solid sleeper body made entirely from a resilient acoustic isolating material. The sleeper body has a thickness, a width, a length, a generally rectangular cross-section and first and second sides. The sleeper body first side includes a first side area and a first sleeper load-bearing surface for contacting a first floor assembly structure, the first sleeper load-bearing surface having a first load-bearing surface area equal to or less than the first side area. The sleeper body second side has a pair of solid sleeper feet extending therefrom. The sleeper feet collectively provide a second sleeper load-bearing surface for contacting a second floor assembly structure. The second sleeper load-bearing surface has a second load-bearing surface area that is less than the first side area by at least a factor of three.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2016Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: STC Architectural Products, LLCInventor: Paul L. Patent number: 9797131Abstract: An acoustic seal for a sound flanking path between an interior architectural separation and a mullion. A seal body is configured as an elongated rail having a base rail portion and a side rail portion. The base rail portion has sides defining a first seal surface for engaging a first interior side of the mullion, and a second seal surface for engaging an end wall of the architectural separation. The side rail portion has sides defining a third seal surface substantially non-parallel with respect to the first seal surface for engaging a second interior side of the mullion, and a fourth seal surface in substantially coplanar relationship with the second seal surface for engaging the end wall of the architectural separation. The first and third seal surfaces may form an inside seal corner for enveloping an outside corner of the mullion defined by the mullion's first and second interior sides.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2016Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: STC Architectural Products, LLCInventor: Paul L. Patent number: 9496695Abstract: An electrical outlet box acoustic seal includes a seal body formed from a flexible sound suppressing material. The seal body has a front side, a rear side, and a peripheral edge. A seal rear projection extends from the seal rear side. The seal rear projection is configured to wrap around a front peripheral edge of an electrical outlet box having left and right sides, top and bottom sides, a rear side, and an open front defined by the outlet box front peripheral edge that provides access to an outlet box interior. When the outlet box is mounted in an opening formed in an architectural separation, and when the acoustic seal is installed on the outlet box, the seal rear projection inserts into a gap between the outlet box front peripheral edge and the opening of the architectural separation to assist in blocking noise transmission through the gap.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2012Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: STC Architectural Products, LLCInventor: Paul L.
