  • Publication number: 20080276797
Abstract: A self-cleaning gas operating system for a firearm having a conventional bolt carrier assembly is disclosed comprising: a nozzle assembly having a nozzle in direct communication with a port on the muzzle; said nozzle assembly nested within a piston cup having a vent, a connecting rod operationally linking the piston cup to a spring loaded operating rod which is substantially co-axial to a bolt carrier key having a striking portion, said striking portion having a concave strike face in contact with said operating rod, wherein gas discharged from a fired cartridge displaces the piston cup and causes the operating rod to strike the strike face displacing the bolt assembly.

  • Publication number: 20080092733
Abstract: An improved bolt carrier for a firearm is provided that improves the overall reliability and performance of the firearm bolt assembly. The bolt carrier includes a bolt with a body having a number of lugs extending therefrom. The bolt includes an extractor recess sized and configured to avoid any undercut of the lugs adjacent the recess. The bolt also includes an extractor pivotably engaged in a recess formed in the bolt. The extractor has a pair nipples on flanges configured to engage a pair of integrally buffered springs disposed on a tapered spring well on either side of a firing pin bore extending through the bolt.

  • Publication number: 20050016414
Abstract: The invention relates to improved ammunition for pistols and carbines to provide a cartridge that may be used within the restricted dimensions of these weapons while increasing the effective range normally associated with such ammunition. Additionally, the velocity increase creates sufficient projectile cross-sectional energy to allow the perforation of certain body armor types. The invention provides a cartridge which by means of diameter reduction of the case in the area of the front and the application of a sabot or bore carrier assembly allows a small diameter projectile, typically 5.56 millimeters, to be fired from a short compact ammunition that may be employed in a pistol size weapon. A weapon chamber is dimensioned to accept the cartridge as described at a tolerance between approximately 3 and 9 one thousandths of an inch.

  • Patent number: 6744154
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for generating electrical energy. In particular, the invention provides devices and methods by which the explosive energy provided by highly combustible propulsive sources, such as solid, liquid and gaseous propellants, can be used to generate sufficient electrical energy to power devices such as high energy spark generators, portable cardiac defibrilators, lasers and the like. The apparatus used can be compact, highly portable, and reusable. By providing a storage device and electrical discharge control, the method and apparatus can be adapted to power low energy devices over an extended period of time.
