    Abstract: N-substituted succinimides are obtained by reacting in a first stage, maleic anhydride with an oxyalkylated or polyoxyalkylated monoalcohol of formulaR.sup.1 --O--A.sub.n OHwherein R.sup.1 is an aliphatic radical having from 12 to 25 carbon atoms, A is an alkylene radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 50, and by further reacting the reaction product of the first stage either with a monoprimary amine of formulaR.sup.2 --X--Z.sub.m NH.sub.2or a bi-primary amine of the formulaH.sub.2 N--Z--NH.sub.p H,wherein R.sup.2 is an aliphatic radical having from 8 to 25 carbon atoms, Z is an alkylene radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, X is --NH-- or --O--, m is an integer from 0 to 4 and p an integer from 2 to 6.The resultant succinimides are useful as anti-rust and detergent additives for motor fuels.

    Abstract: Microporous, fertilizing materials or compositions, retaining water and accelerating the germination and growth of plants, characterized in that they are composed of a hydrocarbon base containing asphaltenes modified by an oxidation agent producing a liberation of gas, directly, or indirectly, in combination with at least one mineral compound reacting in acid medium, to which materials or compositions it is possible to add, by simple mixing, appropriate common manures, oligo-elements and fertilizers.Method of preparation of fertilizing materials or compositions, characterized in that a non-acid oxidizing agent is mixed with a molten hydrocarbon base in a proportion of 25 to 50% by weight with 5 to 10% of a mineral compound, the mixture is kept for 5 to 7 hours at 180.degree.-250.degree. C., poured into metal trays, cooled, ground and screened into granules of a diameter ranging from 1 to 3 mm.

    Abstract: A method of preparation of polymer-asphalt (bitumen) compositions which comprises mixing, with agitation, at a temperature of 130.degree. to 230.degree. C., 80 to 98% by weight of an asphalt having a penetration between 30 to 220, and 2 to 20% by weight of a polyblock copolymer of a styrene-carboxylated conjugated diene having a mean molecular weight of 30,000 to 300,000, and maintaining this mixture for at least 2 hours at this temperature, then adding 0.1 to 3% of elemental sulfur, based on the asphalt, while maintaining the same conditions of agitation and temperature for at least 20 minutes, the carboxylated conjugated diene sequence being selected from the group consisting of carboxylated polybutadiene and carboxylated polyisoprene.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a new process for the preparation of improved polymeric bitumens.The process is characterized by preparing a first composition by admixing a petroleum fraction (160.degree.-230.degree. C.), while stirring, at a temperature of from 80.degree. C. to 120.degree. C., with a copolymer made of styrenic blocks and dienic blocks such as a styrenebutadiene disequenced or multisequenced or statistical copolymer having a molecular weight varying between 30,000 and 300,000 and crystallized sulfur which is not chemically bound.When homogeneity is obtained, a portion of said first composition is admixed for at least 15 minutes at a temperature of from 130.degree. C. to 230.degree. C., with a conventional bitumen (penetration 20-220) to form a fluid polymeric bitumen.The fluid polymeric bitumen obtained by the process of the present invention is an excellent product characterized by superior properties and this product can be used in conventional spreading means when applying coatings onto roads.

    Abstract: A method of preparing a yeast enriched in L-lysine and capable of excreting an organic acid, such as citric acid, and possibly also isocitric and glutamic acids, when cultivated on a hydrocarbon-containing medium comprises subjecting a yeast of the species Candida lipolytica to the action of a mutagenic agent, such as a chemical agent or radiation, cultivating the thus-treated yeast in a culture medium containing a lysine analogue, preferably that to which the original yeast is most sensitive, in a concentration which is about 50 to 100 times greater than that to which the cells of the original yeast are most sensitive, and cultivating the resultant mutated resistant yeast on a medium containing at least one hydrocarbon such as a C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 normal paraffin as well as conventional nutrients, the cultivation preferably being effected in an agitated aerated medium at a pH of 3 to 6 and a temperature of 25.degree. to 30.degree. C..

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a stable diploid of Candida lipolytica which comprises (a) in a first stage, separately cultivating two haploid strains of Candida lipolytica of opposed sign in a medium rich in assimilable carbon nutrient; (b) in a second stage, cultivating the two resultant strains together in a medium poor in assimilable carbon nutrient; and (c) in a third stage, after the appearance of diploid colonies, treating them with a mutagenic agent to stabilize them. The invention also comprises a process for the preparation of .alpha.-ketoglutaric acid which comprises cultivating a diploid strain obtained by crossing two Candida lipolytica haploid strains of opposite sign in a medium containing, as source of assimilable carbon, at least one hydrocarbon.
