    Abstract: There is provided methods and systems for improving the safety of a battery. The system is directed towards a plurality of sensors for providing sensor data, a battery management system for comparing one or more parameters associated with the sensor data to a corresponding threshold value, a first thermal regulation system, and a second thermal regulation system. The system configures the first thermal regulation system in response to the comparison, and the second thermal regulation system is configured if any of the one or more parameters exceeds the corresponding threshold value.

    Abstract: A process inferentially determines hydrodynamic bearing flotation in a metal rolling operation for a metal roller bearing. The process receives from a mill stand processing the metal roll a rolling load of the metal roll, a gap between a pair of rollers pressing the metal roll, and a speed of the metal roll through the pair of rollers. The process further receives from the mill stand a gauge of the metal roll after the metal roll has passed through the pair of rollers. The process determines the hydrodynamic bearing flotation using the rolling load of the metal roll, the gap between a pair of rollers pressing the metal roll, the speed of the metal roll through the pair of rollers, and the gauge of the metal roll after the metal roll has passed through the pair of rollers. The process then adjusts the gap between the pair of rollers based on the determined hydrodynamic bearing flotation.

One device includes a memory, and a processor configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to receive operating information of a heat pump, determine a first set point of at least one of a number of components of the heat pump and a first operating temperature, receive a second operating temperature of the evaporator that is positively offset from the first operating temperature of the evaporator, determine a second set point of at least one of the number of components of the heat pump based on the second operating temperature, and modify a set point of at least one of the number of components of the heat pump to the second set point such that a heating mode of the heat pump is enabled for a heating interval length of the heat pump.
