Patent number: 7805918Abstract: A control system for a cutting reel unit includes a height-of-cut adjusting system and a reel-to-bedknife clearance adjusting system. The reel mower cutting unit may be manual or self-adjusting. In the manual mode, adjustments can be made by engaging and turning an adjustment actuator on the side of the cutting reel with a hand tool such as a socket wrench. In the self-adjustment mode, adjustments can be made by engaging and turning adjustment actuators with an output shaft of an electric motor. The same adjustment actuators are used in both adjustment modes, and the reel cutting unit may be converted between modes by fastening or unfastening electric motor assembly from the unit.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2006Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Carl Steven Silbernagel, Paul Michael Elhardt, Kenneth Edward Hunt

Patent number: 7334834Abstract: A tractor cab roof with integral HVAC air ducts includes an upper roof member and a lower roof member. The upper roof member includes a top panel, downwardly depending side edges, and a downwardly depending rear edge. The lower roof member includes a central panel, left and right side panels below the central panel, a rear panel below the central panel, sloping side walls, and a sloping rear wall. Conditioned air ducts are between the upper roof member and the left and right side panels, with conditioned air outlet apertures in the sloping side walls. An evaporator/heater core is mounted on the rear panel, with an air mixing chamber to the rear and a conditioned air discharge cavity in front. Recirculating air intake apertures are provided where the sloping rear wall joins the rear panel. A pair of blowers move conditioned air from the conditioned air chamber into the conditioned air ducts. The flow of conditioned air crosses over the recirculating air in a figure eight pattern.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2006Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Thomas Chilton Hill, Paul Michael Elhardt, Michael David Caudill

Patent number: 6957595Abstract: A tilt steering wheel mechanism for an agricultural tractor or like implement includes a steering shaft support and a tilt coupling mounted on the shaft support for relative pivotal movement. A rotatable steering shaft, and associated steering wheel, are joined to the tilt coupling for pivotal movement therewith, with a collar-like tilt latch fitted to the tilt coupling for maintaining the steering wheel in any of a plurality of selected angular dispositions. Convenient and efficient operation of the tilt mechanism is facilitated by the provision of a generally U-shaped latch release which is positioned in close proximity to the steering wheel so as to facilitate single-handed grasping of the steering wheel and operation of the latch release. The latch release includes a pair of cam surfaces which cooperate with a pair of cam followers provided on the tilt latch for selectively latching and unlatching the tilt mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2001Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: Deere & Co.Inventors: Mark Joseph Kromer, Paul Michael Elhardt
