  • Publication number: 20220187508
Abstract: A liquid lens can include a cavity, a first liquid disposed within the cavity, and a second liquid disposed within the cavity. A focus of the liquid lens can be adjustable by adjusting a shape of a variable interface defined by the first liquid and the second liquid. Upon adjusting the focus of the liquid lens in a periodic oscillation with a peak-to-valley amplitude of 20 diopter and a frequency of 2 Hz, a root mean square (RMS) wavefront error (WFE) of the liquid lens measured at 1 ms intervals can remain at 100 nm or less throughout one complete cycle of the periodic oscillation.

  • Patent number: 10880482
Abstract: A camera module includes an image sensor, a lens assembly, and a mechanical actuator. The lens assembly is positioned to focus an image on the image sensor and includes a variable focus lens. The mechanical actuator causes relative translation between the lens assembly and the image sensor in each of an X-direction parallel to a first lateral axis and a Y-direction parallel to a second lateral axis. The first lateral axis is substantially perpendicular to an optical axis of the lens assembly, and the second lateral axis substantially perpendicular to each of the optical axis and the first lateral axis. • Publication number: 20190257985
Abstract: A liquid lens includes a lens body having a first window, a second window, and a cavity disposed between the first window and the second window. A first liquid and a second liquid are disposed within the cavity of the lens body. The first liquid and the second liquid are substantially immiscible with each other and have different refractive indices such that an interface between the first liquid and the second liquid forms a lens. An optical filter is integrated with at least one of the first window or the second window. An image capture device includes an optical system having a variable focus lens, an image sensor, and an optical filter integrated with the optical system. Each of the image sensor and the optical filter is aligned along an optical axis of the optical system.

  • Publication number: 20180259696
Abstract: A window is provided comprising an outside glass pane and an inside glass pane. The outside glass pane includes a low emissivity layer. The inside glass pane comprises a photochromic glass and is spaced apart from and disposed substantially parallel to the outside glass pane. The outside glass pane transmits light in the visible portion of the optical spectrum. The low emissivity layer of the outside glass pane blocks transmission of solar radiation in the IR and near-IR bands, and transmits solar radiation in an activation band of the photochromic glass to darken the photochromic glass and reduce visible light transmittance through the photochromic glass.

  • Publication number: 20180220892
Abstract: A method for quantifying microvascular function in a patient includes stabilizing a test portion of the patent to analyze. A microvascular blood flow parameter is measured using a first spectral imaging technique. A microvascular reserve parameter is measured using a second spectral imaging technique. A tissue respiration parameter is measured using a third spectral imaging technique. A microvascular permeability parameter is measured using a fourth spectral imaging technique. The method further includes processing the microvascular blood flow parameter, the microvascular reserve parameter, the tissue respiration parameter, and the microvascular permeability parameter together using a processor configured to generate a summary microvascular parameter corresponding to the microvascular function in the patient.

  • Publication number: 20160103261
Abstract: An illumination system configured to produce color movement along the length of an optical fiber. The system can include a light-diffusing optical fiber having a first input end and a second input end, a glass core, a cladding surrounding the glass core, and an outer surface. Nano-sized structures are situated within the glass core or at the core-cladding boundary in order to scatter light. A first light source is optically coupled to the first input end, and a second light source is optically coupled to the second input end. A color variation forms within the optical fiber at the junction of the light emitted from each end of the fiber, and adjusting the intensity of light emitted from one or more of the first light source and the second light source causes the location of the color variation to move along the length of the optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20140243598
Abstract: Optical probe delivery and retrieval systems and methods are disclosed. The optical probe includes a dissolvable capsule that contains micro-components that are substantially smaller than the size of the capsule. The capsule is allowed to dissolve in the stomach after imaging data is collected in the esophagus. Thus, only the optical fiber tether and the relatively small micro-components attached thereto need be retrieved. Delivery devices that facilitate comfortable delivery and retrieval of the optical probe are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8183536
Abstract: High-power excimer lasers are assembled with individually replaceable optical module subsystems containing consumable optical components. Windows formed in the enclosures of the optical modules incorporate a fluorescent material for converting ultraviolet light scattered from the components of the optical module into visible light emanating from the windows. Changes in the amount or location of the visible light emanating from the windows are interpreted as indications of the degradation in the performance of the optical modules.
