  • Publication number: 20060022083
Abstract: A system for measuring the flight of a projectile, comprising: a projectile comprising an exterior surface and a set of orientation identifiers distributed over the exterior surface, such that, for every orientation of the projectile, there exists, from any fixed perspective, a unique viewable configuration of a sub-set of the identifiers; means for capturing a first image of the surface of the projectile at a first time, the first image including a first configuration of a first sub-set of the orientation identifiers; means for determining the orientation of the projectile from the first configuration; means for capturing a second image of the surface of the projectile at a second time, the second image including a second configuration of a second sub-set of the orientation identifiers; means for determining the orientation of the projectile from the second configuration; and means for determining the rotational velocity of the projectile in flight from its orientation at the first time and its orientation a

  • Publication number: 20050036478
Abstract: A process control and monitoring method for wirelessly communicating with multiple devices is disclosed. The method includes a basestation that communicates with multiple field units via a wireless messages and in accordance with a wireless protocol and multiple field units that receive wireless messages in accordance with the wireless protocol from the basestation and respond to requests from the basestation via wireless messages in accordance with the wireless protocol. The wireless protocol includes messages containing unique identifiers for confirming the authenticity of the wireless messages.

  • Publication number: 20050018643
Abstract: A system for wirelessly communicating between multiple devices of a process control system is disclosed. The system includes a basestation that communicates with multiple field units via a wireless signal and in accordance with a wireless protocol. The wireless protocol is made up of frames that are defined by multiple time slots, an initial one of which is reserved for a wireless start-frame message from the basestation to multiple field units. The base station utilizes the start-frame message to assign the remaining time slots to field units and to provide information to synchronizing the field units to the basestation.

  • Patent number: 6668136
Abstract: An integral heating and cooling unit is disclosed. The integral heating and cooling unit controls the temperature of a working fluid by heating or cooling the fluid either independently or in tandem. The integral heating and cooling unit includes a casing or outer housing, which defines a plenum. A heat exchanger pipe is attached to the outer housing and passes through the plenum. A plurality of heating elements connects to the outer housing and extends into the plenum. The heating elements heat the working fluid when they are powered and the working fluid passes through the plenum. The heat exchanger pipe extracts heat from the working fluid when a cooling fluid passes through the pipe and in heat transfer relation with the working fluid.
