  • Patent number: 10938130
Abstract: A plug-in point adapter provides a self-contained adapter assembly that may be plugged into the connector jack of an existing electrical alligator clip probe and which increases the length of the probe. In some implementations, the adapter includes a test point that can be projected forward to a selectable length between the jaws of the clip that allows the clip to be used either as the point of a test probe or the original service as an alligator probe. In some implementations, the adapter transfers the alligator jack to the adapter jack for connection of the test lead plug. In some implementations, the adapter latches to the alligator clip and remains on permanently. The original alligator clip is not modified in any way and therefore the adapter can be customized for various designs of alligator clips that do not have to be modified.

  • Patent number: 9618538
Abstract: For decades, a mainstay of electrical and electronic testing has been the conventional use of the multi-meter that used a pair of probes to connect the Device Under Test to the meter. This often proves inadequate for present-day testing because more than one simultaneous or alternate reading or the connection of another testing tool and the reading of its effect on the DUT is often required. The Dual-Function Switch and Lead set (DFSL) of the present invention provides a switch and lead set interfacing two multi-meters, or one multi-meter and one test device or instrument with the DUT, while using the traditional and convenient pair of probes and a simple finger movement on the DFSL. The DFSL facilitates these tests, their safety and integrity, and reduces the time of many test procedures.

  • Patent number: 9618535
Abstract: A test instrument probe that encompasses the dual alternate action of a point or a clamp-grip within the same probe. This probe has approximately the same dimensions as a conventional probe, and allows either the point or clamp action to be used without the necessity of removing the probe from the hand. This alternate action requires only using a thumb and finger pressure to change from a point to a clamp or the clamp to a point. One embodiment allows a clamp jaw opening of up to a nominal ¼ inch that is usually sufficient to grip onto the leads of an electronic component such as resistor, capacitor or integrated circuit pin. The probes are also designed so that when not in use, the two probes can be connected together by a snap-in action that minimizes the potential loss of a probe and importantly allows the points to become safely enclosed to minimize a sharp point hazard.

  • Patent number: 9274144
Abstract: A multifunction test instrument probe includes a housing having a hollow bore with an open end. A clamp plunger is carried in the hollow bore, with a first end including a thumb press, and a second end including an alligator clamp having a pair of jaws, with a compression spring normally biasing the thumb press away from the housing, and normally biasing the alligator clamp substantially within the hollow bore proximate the open end. A point plunger is also carried in the bore, with a first end including a thumb press, and a second end terminating in a point, with a second compression spring normally biasing the thumb press away from the housing, and biasing the point within the hollow bore proximate the open end.

  • Publication number: 20150353161
Abstract: A handlebar grip which incorporates a hinge in or near the outboard end of the grip allowing a substantial portion of the grip to flip up from the grip body to become the equivalent of a hard-mounted bar end, but with the ability to easily flip back down flush with or adjacent to the grip body and out of harm's way when riding in tight quarters. The bar ends can be deployed when riding uphill providing all the advantages of bar ends, and just as easily flipped closed when riding downhill so that they do not interfere with nearby obstacles. In addition, by incorporating the inventive bar end feature into the grip itself, the bicycle controls do not have to be moved inboard on the handlebar, and nothing protrudes past the end of the handlebar.

  • Patent number: 9030173
Abstract: A temperature is measured for each terminal of the battery unit. The magnitude and sign of a temperature differential is calculated from the temperatures. The temperature differential is then correlated to a deteriorating condition of the battery unit.

  • Patent number: 8169195
Abstract: A first input receives an indication as to a temperature of a positive terminal from a first temperature probe. A second input receives an indication as to a temperature of a negative terminal from a second temperature probe. A monitor takes an action when a temperature differential that represents a difference in temperature between the positive and negative terminals at a single point in time exceeds a predetermined differential magnitude.

  • Patent number: 7786702
Abstract: An apparatus for charging either a normal or a sulfated type of a storage battery includes a first charging stage, a second charging stage, and a final third charging stage. The first charging stage applies a pulsed voltage with a high peak and average voltage to the battery until an average current of about 12 amperes is attained, at which time transition into the second charging stage occurs. A pulse width modulator reduces the average voltage and average current to a safe level and continue to charge the battery for about 20 minutes. At that time transition into the third charging stage occurs wherein a low ripple 14.8 VDC steady state current-limited voltage is applied to the battery for a second duration of about four hours, after which charging is complete and the apparatus shuts itself off.

  • Patent number: 6942234
Abstract: A wheeled apparatus is provided that converts alternate back and forth longitudinal motion supplied by the arms of a user to a pair of members into rotary motion that is used to drive the apparatus forward. The members move in opposite direction pulling and releasing a pair of chain segments that each a freewheel. Each freewheel drives an axle when rotated in one direction and coasts in the opposite direction. A drive gear is attached to the axle and supplies power to a driven gear attached to a multi-speed internal gear hub. A brake is also attached to the hub. An optional supplemental source of motive power such as an electric motor or gasoline engine can also be included.

  • Patent number: 6708997
Abstract: A wheeled apparatus is provided that converts alternate back and forth longitudinal motion supplied by the arms of a user to a pair of members into rotary motion that is used to drive the apparatus forward. The members drive special rack gears that include upper and side gear teeth. An idler gear engages the side teeth and maintains alignment between the two rack gears. The upper teeth of each rack gear drive a first gear of a pair of coaster gears. When the first gear is rotated or driven in a first direction a second gear of each coaster gear also rotates in the first direction. When the first gear is rotated in an opposite direction, the second gear is adapted to coast. Each second gear is operatively connected to a first and to a second driven gear by a first and second chain respectively. The first and second driven gears are attached to a rear wheel of the apparatus and which each are adapted to urge the apparatus forward.
