  • Patent number: 6815023
Abstract: A polymer blend and mono-and multilayer films made therefrom suitable for processing or packaging articles which have an improved combination of properties e.g. such as lower tear strength and higher puncture resistance, or higher puncture resistance at both room temperature in air and at elevated temperatures in contact with water wherein the blend preferably has a first copolymer of ethylene and hexene-1 having a copolymer melting point of 80 to 98° C., preferably of 80 to 92° C.; a second copolymer of ethylene and at least one &agr;-olefin having a copolymer melting point of 115 to 128° C.; and a third copolymer of ethylene and a vinyl ester or alkyl acrylate and having a melting point of 60 to 110° C., and a process for making such films, especially shrink films having at least 40% shrink at 90° C. in at least one direction.

  • Patent number: 6777047
    Abstract: A bag combination of: (A) a heat shrinkable film bag having a layer comprising: (a) 45-85 wt. % of a C2 copolymer (55-98° C. m.p.) of C6 or C8; (b) 5-35 wt. % of a second C2 &agr;-olefin copolymer (115-128° C. m.p.); and (c) 10-50 wt. % of a third polymer (60-110° C. m.p.) of an unmodified or anhydride-modified, EVA, EAA or copolymer of C2 and methacrylic acid or an alkyl acrylate; where a+b≧50 wt. % based on a+b+c; and the bag film has a total energy absorption≧0.70 Joule and a 90° C. shrink≧50%; and (B) a bag laminate which covers≧25% of the bag's surface; the laminate film comprising: 5-20 wt. % of (i) an ionomer; and 5-95 wt. % of (ii) a copolymer (55 to 95° C. m.p. and {overscore (M)}w/{overscore (M)}n of 1.5 to 3.5) of C2 and a C6-C8 &agr;-olefin; 0 to 90 wt. % each of (iii) a copolymer of C2 and a C4-C8 &agr;-olefin (100-125° C. m.p.); (iv) a copolymer (105 to 145° C. m.p.) of propylene and C2 or C4; and (v) a copolymer (125 to 135° C. m.

  • Patent number: 6749910
Abstract: A patch bag for, packaging bone-in meat cuts having a thin-walled heat shrinkable monolayer patch film adhered to a thin-walled heat shrinkable multilayer bag film wherein the adherence of one to the other is solely due to the surface energy of the films, the patch film and the heat seal layer of the bag film both including blend of a first polyethylene having a density below 0.900 g/cc and a second polyethylene having a density of 0.900 to 0.915 g/cc and a melting point of 90 to 110° C. and a third polyethylene having a density of 0.900 to 0.915 and a melting point of 115 to 130° C. with EVA being a third component of the bag film heat seal layer and an optional component of the patch film.
