  • Patent number: 7141139
Abstract: In a process and an arrangement for directing a papermaking pulp towards a regulated outlet (9), accept from successive cleaning stages (6, 14, 20) is totally or partly led towards the outlet (9) while excess accept is led in the opposite direction to the inlet (5) of the preceding cleaning stage (6). For feeding of a forming wire, a common base pipe (8) for collecting accept extends between the outlet (9) and a feeding (3) for fresh pulp, while reject pipes (11, 18) lead to the next cleaning stage (14, 20).

  • Patent number: 5567278
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for recycling backwater in a papermaking machine. According to the invention backwater draining through a forming fabric is collected into several collecting means (51, 52, 53, 54) and pumped by separate pumps (20) in at least two and preferably numerous separate flows (81 to 85) directly as substantially air free separate flows to the fibre process (12, 30, 40) of the short circulation in order to implement a fast, air free and split recycling of backwater from said forming fabric to said fibre process.

  • Patent number: 5306394
Abstract: A turbulence roll for a web former. The roll generates high frequency small-scale vibration in the stock on the forming fabric whereby fluidization of the partially formed fiber mat and dispersion of fiber flocs in the stock is brought about. The turbulence roll is formed of a shaft on which a plurality of discs (32) is disposed a distance apart from each other and a plurality of lengthwise extending rods (34) is attached to the rims of the discs and spaced apart from each other.

  • Patent number: 5018478
Abstract: Method and apparatus for coating a paper or paper board web including preventing deposition and drying of the coating paste on the edge zones of the coating chamber by continuously causing a flow of coating paste from the coating chamber past the edge seal (2). Each edge seal is disposed in the space between the front and the rear walls (3,4) of the coating apparatus, and the upper part (11) of each edge seal corresponds to the form of a wedge between the wiping member (9) of the coating apparatus and the web (12) to be coated. Coating paste flows through gaps (13, 14) between the edge seals and the wiping member and between the edge seals and the web, which gaps are for example, between about 2-5 mm wide.

  • Patent number: 4889073
Abstract: A method and apparatus for two-sided coating of a moving web, e.g. a paper web, and smoothing said coating. The direction of movement of the web (4) is substantially upwards. The web is fed through a coating chamber (3) and the coating is immediately smoothed in the top part of the chamber. The top of the chamber is formed by a flexible blade (5) and a rod (6) mounted rotatably on bearings, the blade and the rod forming a nip (7) where the coating is smoothed while the web passes through it. The nip is mounted at a short distance from the coating channel outlets (2).

  • Patent number: 4492611
Abstract: A press for removing liquid from a moving material web comprising two endless liquid impervious belts which form an extended press nip. At least one liquid pervious and/or absorbing belt passes through the nip together with the material web. The inner surface of one of the liquid impervious belts together with the pressure member forms a pressure compartment for exerting pressure onto the material web along its whole width in the nip with movable sealing strips at each end of the extended nip. The inner surface of the other liquid impervious belt slides along the slide surface of the support member.
