  • Patent number: 5040988
Abstract: A visual mood and cause indicator apparatus and method are provided wherein a display board with indicia on the face thereof is used to visually communicate human moods and possible causes therefor. A person's mood is visually communicated by displaying a colored symbol, such as a flag or an illuminated lamp, in a designated location on the display board. The perceived cause for such a mood is visually communicated by displaying a marker, such as a peg or an illuminated lamp, next to the indicia corresponding thereto. Further indicia can be provided on the face of the display board which represents desirable actions considered responsive to the indicated mood, with the desired action being visually communicated by displaying a second marker, such as another peg or illuminated lamp, next to the indicia corresponding thereto.

  • Patent number: 4631503
Abstract: A waveguide or waveguide phase shifter is terminated with a short circuit provided by a rigid conductive block which is sized to be a close tolerance fit within the waveguide. The block has grooves in its faces adjacent to the waveguide walls. The walls of the waveguide are deformed to project into these grooves to permanently secure the waveguide to the block.

  • Patent number: 4489474
Abstract: A rolling lobe airspring of the type embodying a tubular flexible member of substantially uniform thickness throughout its length and circumference includes a modified piston. The piston includes a recess near its end which is secured to the flexible member. The end of the flexible member lies in the piston recess. A method of assembly of such an airspring is also described.

  • Patent number: 4285259
Abstract: A turret indexing system for a turret punching machine having a plurality of equally spaced tool punching stations carried on the turrets which may be rotatably positioned to place selected punching tools in register with a punching ram. Turret indexing is accomplished with a pneumatic cylinder driven reciprocating drive arrangement utilizing a pneumatically actuated clutch to drive the turrets through a one direction, incremental indexing rotation which is equivalent to one tool punching station spacing. A shot pin arrangement is effective to lock the turrets in an operating position and provide small corrective repositioning of the turrets, when required, to precisely position the turrets relative to the punching ram. A control system provides an automatic sequenced cycling of the indexing system to position each required punching tool in an accurate punching position.

  • Patent number: 4213733
Abstract: A machine tool is illustrated having a workpiece support table on which a workpiece is moved by an automatically controlled workpiece gripper movable in the X and Y directions. Movement of the gripper in at least the X direction is controlled in reference to a base line which is set within the automatic control in response to abutment of the workpiece edge against a table supported stop, the stop being movable against a spring from a rest position through a first or base line set in position in response to abutment by the moving edge of the workpiece carried by the gripper. Movement of the stop through the first position automatically sets the base line within the automatic control.

  • Patent number: 4174827
Abstract: A high ratio L/D sleeve type rolling lobe airspring is modified to provide column stabilization and correct a "weinering" effect by reason of a collar mounted at the plug end of the airspring sleeve. The collar prevents the inflated sleeve from rolling over a mounting ring that retains the sleeve on the plug. In another embodiment a rigid member is mounted inside of the airspring to limit the kink effect of the sleeve at a full jounce position such that upon being repressurized under restrained load the sleeve returns to an axially symmetric configuration.

  • Patent number: 4165669
Abstract: A turret punch machine is disclosed having upper and lower turrets each equipped to carry a plurality of tools. The turrets carry a plurality of modules projecting from a central turret section in spoke-like fashion. The modules on the upper turret are each adapted to carry one or more punching tool assemblies and the modules on the lower turret are each adapted to carry one or more die tools. The modules are attached to and rotate with the turret by interfitting connections adjacent the modules' inner peripheries, the modules being easily detachable from the turrets to allow quick tool and/or module change.

  • Patent number: 4080855
Abstract: A worktable for use in association with machine tools is illustrated which has a section including a side edge of the worktable hingedly connected to the table supporting member whereby the section is tiltable under power to automatically unload a workpiece from the table. The invention is shown in connection with a workpiece gripping and moving carriage which moves the workpiece relative to the machine tool and, after completion of machining, moves the workpiece to a position on the tip table section. Control members prevent actuation of the tip table until after the workpiece gripper has deposited the workpiece on the tip table clear of the machine tool and then withdrawn to a position fully out of contact with the workpiece.
