  • Publication number: 20150159557
Abstract: Methods and systems for imparting corrosion resistance to gas turbine engines are disclosed. Existing and/or supplemental piping is connected to existing compressor section air extraction piping and turbine section cooling air piping to supply water and anti-corrosion agents into areas of the gas turbine engine not ordinarily and/or directly accessible by injection of cleaning agents into the bellmouth of the turbine alone and/or repair methods. An anti-corrosion mixture is selectively supplied as an aqueous solution to the compressor and/or the turbine sections of the gas turbine engine to coat the gas turbine engine components therein with a metal passivation coating which mitigates corrosion in the gas turbine engine.

  • Publication number: 20150114221
Abstract: A gas turbine inlet air filter house control system may obtain geospatial data for an area in which a gas turbine is located. The gas turbine inlet air filter house control system may determine filter cleaning parameters for the gas turbine based on the geospatial data and control the initiation and duration of the inlet air filter cleaning process.

  • Publication number: 20150107254
Abstract: A closed circuit fuel heating system is provided for heating at least two types of fuel. The heating system includes a heat transfer subsystem disposed in a gas turbine system exhaust. A first heat exchange subsystem is coupled to a first fuel source and the heat transfer subsystem. The first heat exchange subsystem is provided with a control component for controlling a flow of a working fluid through the first heat exchange subsystem. A second heat exchange subsystem may be coupled to a second fuel source and the heat transfer subsystem. The second heat exchange subsystem is provided with a control component for controlling a flow of the working fluid through the second exchange subsystem. A subsystem for controlling the temperature of the working fluid is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8956100
Abstract: Solutions for minimizing the impact of servicing a turbo machine are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus for conveying a turbo machine component can include: a motive system for moving the apparatus along a surface; a platform system operably connected to the motive system, the platform system for supporting the component of the turbo machine, the platform system can include: a first portion fixed to the motive system; and a second portion moveably coupled to the first portion, the second portion for modifying a position of the turbo machine component; and a control system operably connected to the platform system, the control system for controlling at least one of a rate of movement or a direction of the second portion of the platform system.

  • Publication number: 20140210217
Abstract: A system and method is provided that improves the under frequency response of gas turbines by providing a fast-response power augmentation system. The system includes a tank storing a blended mixture of motive fuel such as ethanol or methanol and demineralized water in a predetermined ratio that is provided as a diluent to be injected into the compressor bellmouth, the Compressor Discharge Chamber (CDC), and/or the combustion system via one to three dedicated circuits. To achieve the instantaneous injection of the diluent at the correct pressure and for the appropriate duration to meet the needs of the gas turbine Grid compliance mandate, an accumulator is used as the motive force to drive the augmentation fluid in the dedicated circuits. The injected diluent is microprocessor controlled to either be simultaneous into all three circuits or is sequenced based on a determination of the best turbine control and performance.

  • Publication number: 20140137564
Abstract: Systems and methods for mitigation of hot corrosion in steam injected gas turbine. In one embodiment, a steam injection system can provide for automatic injection of steam in a gas turbine for NOx abatement and power augmentation. The system can obtain indications as to whether the steam to be injected meets the requirements of the gas turbine in terms of purity and quality. If the quality or purity is not adequate, steam the injection into the combustor or compressor discharge casing (CDC) is automatically inhibited. The system may also monitor the dynamic pressure oscillations inside the combustor. The system may modulate steam flows modulates to enhance the total steam flow while maintaining the dynamic oscillations within acceptable limits.
