  • Publication number: 20240176934
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an implant can include receiving at a computing device, patient specific data related to a bone of a patient and implant data related to an implant for the patient, and determining, by the computing device, optimal design parameters for the implant for the patient using the patient specific data and a machine learning model. The method can also include exporting, by the computing device, the optimal design parameters to a manufacturing device of systems for manufacturing the implant. The optimal design parameters can provide for a non-solid implant construction in regions of lower stress within the bone of the patient and a solid implant construction in regions for higher stress within the bone of the patient to bring stress distributions closer to those experienced in a non-implanted bone to, in turn, reduce the likelihood of bone resorption and peri-prosthetic fractures after implantation of the implant.

  • Patent number: 7191716
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the automatic insertion of an individual upholstery tuft (3) and washer (1) from a plurality of connected tufts (4) and a plurality of connected washers (2) into an upholstered article. The apparatus has a cutting blade (35) to separate an individual tuft (3) from the plurality of connected tufts (4). The turf (3) is then engaged by a pair of arms (27, 28) and fed into a tuft insertion needle (14). The arms are connected to automatic washer feed apparatus which feeds an individual washer (1) from the plurality of connected washers (2) and aligns it with the tuft insertion needle (14) ready for insertion. The insertion needle (14) is pneumatically actuated to force the tuft (3) through the washer (1), into the upholstered article, release the tuft (3) and subsequently withdraw the needle (14) from the article.

  • Publication number: 20060273835
Abstract: A circuit for supplying selected currents to a charge pump without harmful effects arising from operation of current switches in the charge pump. A charge pump current setting is applied in digital form to a set of two-position switches coupled to binary-weighted current sources. Currents from the sources selected by the switches are combined, and the total current is mirrored to the charge pump. Simultaneously, those of the binary-weighted current sources not selected by the switches to contribute to the charge pump current are separately combined, and this total current is mirrored to an electrical replica of the charge pump. Thus the currents supplied to the charge pump and to the replica charge pump are complementary in the sense that they always add to a constant total current drawn from a common power supply. Therefore, abrupt changes in current load are avoided and switching noise effects are minimized.

  • Publication number: 20060261865
Abstract: A circuit and corresponding method for doubling the frequency of an input signal, even when the input signal is of low frequency or a square wave. The input signal is applied to a phase-shifting circuit that produces a pair of output signals that are theoretically 90° apart in phase, but may lack the desired form if the original input signal is of low frequency. The waveforms of the two output signals are enhanced in latching hysteresis buffers that produce more uniformly squared waves, with zero crossings corrected to be more exactly 90° apart and with desirably steep state transitions. The enhanced-waveform output signals are coupled to an exclusive OR (XOR) gate to produce a double-frequency output.
