  • Patent number: 5897007
Abstract: A nursing bottle helps reduce tooth decay. The nursing bottle contains a first reservoir for water, a second reservoir for a cariogenic liquid, and a nipple with two fluid flow paths. The first fluid flow path runs from the cariogenic liquid reservoir to an outlet opening in the tip of the nipple. The second fluid flow path runs from the water reservoir to lateral outlet openings near the tip of the nipple. When the reservoirs are filled and the bottle is used, the water enters the baby's mouth nearer the teeth than does the cariogenic liquid, thereby rinsing the teeth and reducing tooth decay.
