  • Patent number: 8833830
Abstract: A vehicular accessory retention clip is used to attach a vehicular accessory, such as vehicular trim, to a vehicle. The vehicular accessory may have a substrate component that has at least one reinforcement post, and the vehicle may have a vehicular base component that has at least one corresponding opening configured to receive the reinforcement post. The retention clip has at least two walls that extend from an edge of a platform, each wall having an exterior tab and an interior tab configured to engage with the walls of the opening and the reinforcement post, respectively. The retention clip is slid onto the reinforcement post until the interior tabs engage with the reinforcement post, and the combination of the retention clip and reinforcement post is inserted until the exterior tabs engage with the walls of the opening.

  • Patent number: 8585859
Abstract: An attachment member including an integral adhesive channel and a method of adhering an attachment member to a substrate includes adhering the member to the substrate using a first adhesive attached to the member to form a gap between the substrate and a bonding surface of the member defined by a perimeter edge. The first adhesive may be a pressure sensitive adhesive. The member defines a channel including a first opening configured to receive a second adhesive, which may be a flowable adhesive. The channel includes a second opening in fluid communication with the bonding surface. After adhering the member to the substrate with the first adhesive, the flowable adhesive is dispensed through the channel and into the gap such that the dispensed flowable adhesive is contained in the gap within the perimeter edge of the bonding surface. The flowable adhesive forms a bond between the substrate and the member.

  • Patent number: 7954198
Abstract: A windshield wiper assembly is provided having a unitary wiper arm and post, and a mechanical linkage for receiving the post and moving the arm. The post has a breakaway feature for breaking the post in response to impact. The wiper includes a head partially containing a center post and a button biased with a spring and connected to the center post for releasing the post from the linkage. The post and linkage include a captive ball and mating groove that are mutually engageable for securing the post to the linkage. Alternately, the post has a quick-connect end having a groove and the linkage has a receiving portion with a retractable collar and captive ball bearings. A vehicle is also provided including a windshield, a windshield wiper having a post, a wiper motor, and a mechanical linkage having an opening for receiving the post and powering the wiper.

  • Publication number: 20090107205
Abstract: Apparatus attaches together stacked upper and lower metal sheets and provides a reinforced aperture. A lower die has a die groove and an opening in the center of the die groove. An upper die has an annular end face that registers with the die groove and a spring-loaded reciprocable punch button that registers with the opening. A hollow ring-shaped grommet has an annular upper end flange engaged by the annular end face of the upper die and an axially extending tubular wall longer than the stacked thickness of the sheets. A metal piercing point at the terminal end of the axially extending wall pierces through the stacked upper and lower sheets and into engagement with the die groove of the lower die to progressively bend the axially extending wall radially outward and upward into engagement with the lower sheet, thereby attaching the sheet together and providing a reinforced aperture.
