  • Patent number: 6323145
Abstract: This invention is directed to a flexible penetration resistant stabilized composite, that includes an interlaced yarn structure of yarns having a tenacity of at least 8 g/d, a tensile modulus of at least 150 g/d and an energy to break of at least 10 j/g. The yarn structure includes yarn subgroups alternately stacked together. There is also provided a polymeric web coextensive with, in contact with, and bound to the surface of one of the subgroups that at least partially contacts and is bound to the yarns in all the subgroups in the stack to thereby contain the subgroups in the stack in an interlaced yarn structure.

  • Patent number: 6107220
Abstract: The invention comprises a flat or shaped fabric structure of yarn groups each yarn group comprising a plurality of yarn subgroups, each group positioned for covering an area. The structure comprises at least a first group of flexible yarns densely covering an area , the yarns within the first group following substantially parallel paths in a first direction and forming a stack with at least a second group of flexible yarns densely covering substantially the same area, the yarns within the second group following substantially parallel paths in a second direction; the yarns in the first group arranged to cross the yarns in the second group, optionally containing other groups of yarn, the yarns in the upper-most subgroup of the stack are connected to the yarns in the bottom-most subgroup of the stack either directly of through the yarns in other subgroups providing an interlaced fabric structure.

  • Patent number: 5906877
Abstract: This invention provides moisture stable tuftstring carpet assemblies. The pile surface structure comprises a moisture stable backing substrate, a plurality of elongated pile articles each comprising an elongated, moisture stable support strand having bonded thereto a plurality of "U" shaped bundles of multifilament yarn. The pile articles are bonded to the backing substrate. Different backing substrates and support strands may be used.

  • Patent number: 5873614
Abstract: An anchor connectable to a carpet stretching apparatus includes a generally L-shaped member in which a first leg defines a base while a second leg forms an upright backstop. The base has a forward edge and an underside thereon. A plurality of inclined gripping pins engageable with the carpet is disposed on the underside of the base. The gripping pins are inclined from the forward edge toward the backstop. The L-shaped member is engageable with a carpet stretching apparatus so that a force generated by the carpet stretching apparatus while stretching a carpet reacts against the backstop at a point of application substantially rearwardly of the gripping pins in the direction of inclination thereof.

  • Patent number: 5644909
Abstract: An alternate twist plied yarn formed from a plurality of strands of singles yarn twisted in alternating directions in lengthwise intervals of first half-cycles of twist at a predetermined twist level followed by second half-cycles of twist at the same twist level with reversal nodes therebetween, the singles twisted yarns being ply-twisted together in alternating directions in lengthwise intervals of first half-cycles of ply-twist followed by second half-cycles of ply-twist, there being a bond formed adjacent each node wherein the first half-cycle of ply-twist is located within the bond and the second half-cycle of ply-twist originates at one end of the bond, the twist level in the singles twisted yarn is between 25% in the same direction and 60% in the opposite direction of the twist applied to the singles yarns before plying.

  • Patent number: RE36372
Abstract: An elongated pile article having a support strand for attachment to a plurality of yarn bundles, the yarn bundles including a dense portion with the filaments bonded to each other and bonded to the support strand, pile surface structure comprised of a plurality of elongated pile articles placed one next to the other, and a method and apparatus for making the elongated pile article.
