  • Patent number: 10054944
Abstract: An illustrative example system for developing an autonomous vehicle response includes a simulator that provides an at least visual simulation of a plurality of different situations that may be encountered while driving, a driver input device that allows the driver to respond to the simulation of the plurality of situations in a manner consistent with the driver's driving response to the situations, respectively, and a compute device including at least one processor and data storage associated with the processor. The compute device is configured to determine a profile of the driver based on information from the driver input device regarding the driver's driving responses to the simulation of the situations. The profile is at least temporarily stored in the data storage. The profile provides information for controlling the autonomous vehicle response to an actual situation corresponding to at least one of the simulated situations.

  • Patent number: 10026450
Abstract: A system and method for instructing rendering of a video sequence, the method being carried out on a first device and comprising: receiving video content from a camera; determining a video sequence, the video sequence comprising a selection of the received video content and one or more video assets, wherein each video asset is associated with an identifier; determining instructions for generating the video sequence, the instructions comprising the identifiers of the one or more video assets; and sending the instructions and the selection of the received video content to a second device, wherein the second device is arranged to render the video sequence.

  • Patent number: 9881483
Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of a system for assisting a driver with personal items includes a plurality of detectors that detect a signal from a transmitter that has been previously associated with a personal item; and a processor configured to: determine at least one characteristic of a journey, receive an indication from at least one of the detectors regarding a detected signal, identify a personal item and determine its location based on the detected signal, provide an indication if the determined location is different than an expected location based on the at least one characteristic of the vehicle journey, determine whether at least one other personal item is expected to be located based on the at least one characteristic of the vehicle journey, and provide an indication that the other personal item is expected but not detected.

  • Patent number: 9802504
Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of a system includes a plurality of device chargers configured to charge a power source of a portable electronic device. At least one transmitter is associated with a portable electronic device. A plurality of detectors are configured to be supported on a vehicle. The plurality of detectors detect a wireless signal from the transmitter. A controller utilizes information from the detectors regarding a detected wireless signal and determines a location of the transmitter relative to the plurality of device chargers. The controller controls at least a selected one of the device chargers to operate in the charging mode based on a proximity between the determined location of the at least one transmitter and the predetermined location of the selected one of the device chargers.

  • Publication number: 20170176205
Abstract: An illustrative example vehicle navigation system includes a user interface having at least a display screen for providing a display output to a user. A controller, which includes at least one processor and memory associated with the processor, determines an area represented by the display. The controller determines at least one safety characteristic of at least one portion of the area represented by the display. The controller causes the user interface to include an indication of the determined safety characteristic with the display.

  • Publication number: 20170176210
Abstract: An illustrative example vehicle navigation system includes a controller and a user interface. The user interface receives user input regarding at least one criterion of interest to the user and a desired area within which to identify a location satisfying that criterion. The controller determines a current vehicle position and direction. The controller identifies a place of potential interest as any location that satisfies the at least one criterion and is within the desired area relative to the current position of the vehicle. The controller determines a travel time from the current position of the vehicle to an identified place of potential interest. The controller determines if the place of potential interest will be accessible to the user based on the travel time. The user interface provides an output at least on a display screen including an indication whether the identified place of potential interest is accessible to the user.
