  • Patent number: 5681629
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of an article comprising a surface treatment step of at least part of the article in the substantial absence of oxygen; the surface of the article which is to be treated consists of a material which comprises at least one polyolefin and which contains less than 5 mg of oxygen per kg (no account being taken of the optional additives).

  • Patent number: 5547298
Abstract: An improved package for supply and take-up spools of dye ribbon for use with the cassette of a thermal printer in which the ribbon spools include a part, e.g. a flange, shaped for engagement with a correspondingly shaped socket in the carton holding the spools during transport etc. to thereby prevent relative rotation of the spools while within the carton.

  • Patent number: 5462164
Abstract: A lighttight package for rolled light-sensitive material includes a core, light-impervious flanges at opposite ends of the core, a roll of the light-sensitive material wound on the core between the flanges, and a light-shielding circumferential wrapper enclosing the roll. The flanges each have a circumferential groove extending radially inwardly from the periphery thereof into which the axial margins of the wrapper are folded radially inwardly and inserted and retained, preferably by a clamping action. The groove is defined between opposed wall sections of the flange and at least one of the wall section can be relatively flexible to facilitate insertion of the wrapper margin therein. The inner termination of the wrapper margin within the groove can be re-entrantly bent and a cord or string can be laid within the re-entrant bend to provide greater security against premature withdrawal of the wrapper margins from the groove.

  • Patent number: 5415486
Abstract: A dye ribbon package for use with a thermal printer and containing for that purpose in spaced parallel relation therein a supply spool wound with dye ribbon and a take up spool for rewinding the dye ribbon as it is unwound from the supply package, a leading end of the dye ribbon on the supply spool being attached to the take up spool, each spool having a winding core with a free end portion, in which the package has a bottom wall and at each of the opposite sides of the bottom wall normal to the spool axes upstanding lateral wall integral with the bottom wall. Each lateral wall has two laterally spaced apart panels, both cut out downwardly from their edges opposite the bottom wall to removably receive the free end portions of the spool cores and permit free access to the end faces of the spool cores.

  • Patent number: 5413901
Abstract: A radiographic film package for non-destructive testing purposes has been developed, comprising a radiographic film sheet which is composed of a film support coated at both sides with one or more silver halide emulsion layer(s) and one or more non-light-sensitive protective antistress coating(s) thereover, and a wrapper around said film sheet which is light-opaque and air-tight, and which comprises a heat-sealable thermoplastic layer at the inner side of the wrapper, a transparent polymer layer at the outer side of the wrapper and a layer of aluminum located between said transparent polymer layer and said heat-sealable thermoplastic layer, and wherein at least one antistatic layer coating is provided between the said thermoplastic layer of said wrapper and the emulsion layers of said film sheet.

  • Patent number: 4099487
Abstract: A pressure roller is composed of a plurality of roller sections, one of said roller sections having a greater diameter than the residual ones. All sections are carried by a common shaft, but the sections having a smaller diameter are eccentrically located on the shaft and freely rotatable thereabout. In this way, by turning the shaft the smaller sections may selectively become situated in such a relation versus the larger ones that the periphery of all sections acquire a common tangent plane in view of an opposed surface. The opposed surface may be a xerographic drum or belt and the pressure roller, after applying a suitable electric DC potential to it, may serve as part of transfer device adapted for being used for the transfer of toner image towards a paper passing between the nip of the pressure roller and the xerographic drum or belt, whereby the effective width of the pressure roller is a function of the width of the paper.
