Publication number: 20080139298Abstract: A gaming device including a plurality of reels having several symbols with at least one wild symbol. In one embodiment, the gaming device spins the reels for at one spin. If a wild symbol is indicated on a payline associated with the reels and no winning symbol combinations are indicated on the payline, the gaming device holds the reel including the wild symbol, stationary. The gaming device then re-spins the other reels for a designated number of spins, not including the reel having the wild symbol, in the game. The gaming device provides an award associated with any winning symbol combinations on the payline. In another embodiment, the gaming device holds one of the reels stationary when a wild symbol is indicated on a payline associated with the reels the award amounts associated with any indicated winning symbol combinations on the payline are less than a designated award value.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2008Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: IGTInventors: Paulina Rodgers, Erick T. Ching, Jasonlee Kissee Hohman

Publication number: 20080132320Abstract: A gaming device provides one or more different types of symbol evaluations based on the amount wagered by a player in a game. In one embodiment, the gaming device includes a plurality of different types of symbol evaluation, each type of symbol evaluation associated with a different wager amount. If the player wagers a first wager amount to cause a play of the game, the gaming device provides a first type of symbol evaluation. If the player wagers a second wager amount to cause a play of the game, the gaming device provides a second, different type of symbol evaluation in addition to the first type of symbol evaluation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2007Publication date: June 5, 2008Applicant: IGTInventor: Paulina Rodgers

Patent number: 7381134Abstract: An apparatus and method for a free spins game including a plurality of reels, an outcome and a plurality of sections associated with the outcome. The gaming device or player activates the reels to indicate a designated symbol combination including at least two section indicator symbols. When a designated symbol combination including the section indicator symbols is indicated on the reels, the gaming device obtains the corresponding section. The gaming device or player continues to activate the reels until there are no free spins remaining in the game or until all of the sections are obtained. The gaming device then provides the outcome to the player.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2003Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Assignee: IGTInventors: Ryan W. Cuddy, Robert F. Bigelow, Jr., James A. Vasquez, Paulina Rodgers, Anthony J. Baerlocher

Patent number: 7351141Abstract: The gaming device provides a number of selections. When the player chooses a selection, the gaming device randomly generates a value and randomly places the value into one of a number of adjacent slots. When the bottom of each slot is covered with values, the game removes the values and provides an award to the player. In one embodiment, the award includes a value from each slot and in a preferred embodiment the award includes the smallest value from the slots. The gaming device subtracts the lowest value from the remaining values and the player chooses another selection. The process continues until one of a plurality of possible endings occurs.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2006Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: IGTInventors: Paulina Rodgers, Karen M. Cregan

Publication number: 20080070702Abstract: A gaming device system in which a plurality of gaming devices are linked by a common bonus event is provided. In one embodiment, the linked gaming device system includes a shared symbol generation display that is positioned adjacent to each of a plurality of associated gaming devices and has a plurality of sections and values displayed at each section. Upon a triggering of the bonus event, any player eligible to participate in the bonus may achieve an outcome generated from the bonus event including the shared display. When the shared display is activated, it simultaneously generates a separate or individual outcome associated with each of the gaming devices. The outcomes are spatially related to one another so that a random generation of an outcome associated with one gaming device automatically generates random outcomes associated with each gaming device. Each gaming device however receives the outcome only if it has participated in the random generation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2007Publication date: March 20, 2008Applicant: IGTInventors: Joseph Kaminkow, Anthony Baerlocher, Zeke Brill, Hans Elias, Paulina Rodgers, Kehl LeSourd, Eric Wagner, Christopher Carlisle, Kirk Tedsen, Michael MacVittie

Publication number: 20080004105Abstract: A gaming device having a bonus round with multiple selection groups is provided. The gaming device provides a plurality of selection groups including a final selection group. Each non-final selection group includes selections that yield awards and at least one selection that yields an advance indicator. The advance indicator signals the end of a player's picking from one selection group and the start of the player's picking from a subsequent selection group. The gaming device provides the player with a total number of picks. The player uses the picks to advance through as many selection groups as possible, wherein the awards increase as the player advances.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2007Publication date: January 3, 2008Applicant: IGTInventors: Karen Cregan, Paulina Rodgers, Anthony Baerlocher

Patent number: 7252592Abstract: A gaming device which includes symbols having a transformation probability. The gaming device in one embodiment includes an activator symbol. When the activator symbol is displayed, a processor of the gaming device determines the transformation probability of each of the displayed symbols and randomly determines which, if any, symbols are to be transformed into wild symbols or other functional symbols based on the transformation probability of the symbols.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2006Date of Patent: August 7, 2007Assignee: IGTInventors: Paulina Rodgers, Joseph E. Publication number: 20070167211Abstract: A gaming device including an award wheel having multiple sections including a plurality of award symbols and at least one terminator symbol, a section indicator, a spin initiator and a processor connected to the award wheel and the spin initiator. The player, or the gaming device, spins the award wheel using a spin initiator. The gaming device provides an award to the player, if the section indicator indicates that the player obtained an award. The player continues to spin the award wheel until the section indicator indicates that the player obtained a terminator, which ends the bonus game and the player receives the total accumulated award.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2007Publication date: July 19, 2007Applicant: IGTInventors: Paulina Rodgers, Anthony Baerlocher

Publication number: 20070060248Abstract: Gaming devices and methods of operating gaming devices are provided. In an embodiment, a single activation of a gaming device can cause a series of outcomes including a symbol cascading effect upon the occurrence of sequential triggering events. In an embodiment, the triggering event occurs when a predetermined combination of symbols is generated and displayed in associated symbol positions, and a designated symbol is generated and displayed in at least one symbol position. If the triggering event occurs, the outcome can include fixing or locking the designated symbol in the symbol position and replacing each of the symbols in the combination of symbols with a generated symbol. Awards are provided for each winning combination, and an incremented modifier is applied to the awards for the occurrence of at least one triggering event. The likelihood that the triggering event will occur increases with each designated symbol fixed in a symbol position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2005Publication date: March 15, 2007Inventors: Paulina Rodgers, Wing Ngan
