  • Patent number: 8991306
Abstract: Valve assembly (8) for fine tuning the temperature of some fluid that has been heated or cooled in a heat exchanging section of a beverage making apparatus (1). The valve assembly (8) comprises a mixing valve (10), having a first inlet (21) for fluid communication with an outlet of the heat exchanging section (6), a second inlet (22) for fluid communication with a source of a hotter or colder version of aforementioned fluid, first and second closing means for altering a flow rate through the first and second inlet respectively, and control means arranged to control the first and second closing means in such way that an increase in flow rate through one of the inlets is matched by a substantially similar sized decrease in flow rate through the other inlet, so that the total flow rate through the mixing valve remains substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 8341790
Abstract: The power toothbrush includes a toothbrush body and a stem portion extending from the toothbrush body which has a workpiece with a flexible membrane at a remote end thereof, and a flexible membrane at a near end thereof as well. A movable piston is positioned in the stem portion, as well as a fluid which is in communication with the flexible membrane at the workpiece end of the toothbrush and the flexible membrane at the near end of the stem portion. The body includes a solenoid coil which, when actuated, moves the piston in opposing directions in a controlled manner within the stem, which acts on the fluid in the stem and moves the flexible membrane at the workpiece in and out at a desired frequency and amplitude.

  • Patent number: 7852182
Abstract: The actuator (10, 90) of a personal care appliance, such as a toothbrush (11), which includes a housing member (12), a double E shaped yoke assembly (14, 52) with two electrical coils (36, 38) wound around the opposing E shaped sections. An armature (28) extends adjacent the top of the yoke assembly (14, 52), extending beyond the edges thereof. The armature (28) further includes side portions which extend adjacent the sides of the E shaped yoke (52), with each side portion including two spaced magnets which are aligned with the coils (36, 38) when the actuator (10, 90) is in a rest position. Power is supplied from a battery source, and a programmable control assembly (46) applies power to the coils (36, 38) in a selected manner to produce axial and/or tangential or complex movement of the brushhead workpiece (33) at the end of an output shaft extending from the armature (28).

  • Patent number: 6163427
Abstract: A magnetic tape (2) and an apparatus (1) for cooperation with this magnetic tape (2) are configured in such a manner that video signals and audio signals can be stored in an inclined-track zone (67) and that a control signal (D-CTL signal) of a given frequency f.sub.1 can be stored in a first longitudinal track (24), which is, in fact, intended for recording analog audio signals, and that an additional control signal (X-CTL signal) of another frequency f.sub.

  • Patent number: 5523851
Abstract: In a video recorder (2) with a tuner (20a), with a recording and playback device (34), with a connector (4) to which a television receiver (3) can be connected, with a mode selection device (65) for selecting the "recording" mode, the "playback" mode and further modes of operation, and with a control signal generator (73) for generating a playback control signal (V(Pb)) when the video recorder (2) is in the "playback" mode, the video recorder (2) further includes a time window generator (105) for generating a time window of a given time window length (T), this time window generator being controlled by the mode selection device (65) in such a manner that the time window generator (105) generates a time window as a result of the initiation of the activation of at least one given mode, the time window generator (105) activating the control signal generator (73) for the duration of the time window length (L) of the time window.

  • Patent number: 5388008
Abstract: A device (1) for recording and playing back information signals has a connection apparatus (17) via which another such device (35) can be connected to the device (1) in order to carry out a copy operation. The other device (35) emits a control voltage U1 when a high level H with the "playback" mode of operation is switched on in the same. A copy instruction can be intentionally issued to the device (1) for example by actuating a key (46). The device (1) has a first detector (49) for detecting the control voltage U1 with a high level H emitted by the other device (35) and a second detector (50) for detecting an intentionally issued copy instruction. The "record" mode of operation is only switched on in the device (1) in order to carry out a copy operation in the event of both detectors (49, 50) being triggered simultaneously.
