  • Patent number: 11511308
Abstract: A method of coating threads using a printhead having rows of nozzles extending along a length of the printhead. The method includes the steps of: feeding the thread along a length of the printhead; and ejecting ink from the rows of nozzles towards the thread. Thread-coating modules and thread-coating systems make use of the method described.

  • Patent number: 6208486
Abstract: A disk drive includes a disk drive base, a spindle motor, a first disk and a disk clamp. The rotary hub of the spindle motor includes a generally cylindrically-shaped hub wall and a hub flange including an inner annular surface adjacent to the hub wall, an outer annular surface and a flange land portion integrally formed with the hub flange. The land portion is positioned between the annular surfaces and defines a disk contact surface projecting above the annular surfaces, the disk contact surface being substantially centered on the hub flange. The first disk is supported by the disk contact surface to form a clearance between the annular surfaces and the first disk. A second disk may be coupled to the spindle motor and an annular disk spacer may be positioned between the disks. The annular disk spacer includes a first spacer surface facing the first disk and a second spacer surface facing the second disk.

  • Patent number: 5953183
Abstract: A magnetic disk drive with a head stack assembly having a pass-through flex circuit cable is disclosed. The pass-through flex circuit cable is mounted to a side of the head stack assembly to extend straight forward in an initial unfolded position during handling and assembly and to then be folded over into a final position in a substantially opposite direction and with a desired flex cable trajectory. The head stack assembly includes a post, preferably of rectangular profile, that is integrally formed and spaced away from the actuator body. An outer surface of the post defines the flex cable trajectory. The flex circuit cable, located in the space between the actuator body and the post, extends past the post in the initial position and wraps around the post in the final folded over position. The flex circuit cable is secured to the post in the final folded over position, preferably with a flex clip that removably mounts to the post.

  • Patent number: 5909338
Abstract: A magnetic disk drive includes a base which supports a head stack assembly having a coil portion, a flex circuit cable having a grounding portion, and a flex clamp. The disk drive further includes a voice coil motor (VCM) formed from the coil portion's interaction with upper and lower VCM plates that carry at least one permanent magnet. The disk drive includes a Z-shaped grounding portion which wraps around one end of the flex clamp and permits a single screw to secure that end of the flex clamp to the base and simultaneously make grounding contact with the grounding portion and an elongated protrusion extending from one of the VCM plates that is adjacent to the flex clamp to hold that end of the flex clamp against the base when the VCM plates are fastened to the base.

  • Patent number: 5654849
Abstract: A disk drive comprises a pivot cartridge and a molded plastic actuator body. The cartridge includes a shaft and has an outer surface that is generally cylindrical and includes first and second ring-shaped portions and a necked-down portion separating the first and second ring-shaped portions. The body has a bore hole with an inner cylindrical surface that is deformable to expand from a first diameter to a second diameter. Each of the first and second ring-shaped portions has the second diameter and is disposed in an interference fit with the inner cylindrical surface.
